Relations and Auto Tables?

Posted by Ernestpcosby on 2 June 2017 in English (English)

Hey guys, I was thinking that I'd like to make an auto table of all the All-n-One locations, like what duchycoffee has now. How do I create the relation, and how do I create the auto table?

you don't even need relations anymore, have a look at my example queries at http://wiki.opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/User:Martinum4/Sandbox/ExternalDataTablesTest

Yes, I know that relations are not necessary, but for me they make some things easier and creating a relation doesn't take a minute.

Where do they make it easier? it's just another thing you have to maintain IMHO... A good query you only create once and you never have to deal with it again.

Queries also have to be maintained, at least when you change something...

as I said... "FOR ME" its easier, but I see, it is the same discussion as a few weeks ago: some users here think there can be just one way how to do it "right" and everyone has to do it this way! I don't think so, if you like the way how you do it, that's fine. But you should accept (not like!) other concepts as well... we know about the different possibilities, a further discussion will get you nowhere.

Using just the query, without an additional relation, can make the implementation much less fragile to change and will require less attention in the future. For example I redone the example on the OGF page without the relation: http://wiki.opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/Talk:OGF:Automated_tables_and_lists - it would be further improved by querying on the operator tag, rather than name.
