My new city; Ville de Desirs.

Posted by GEOMaps on 3 April 2018 in English (English)

Hi all. I just want to let you know that I am making a new city named Ville de Desirs. This city will be a new challenge for me, and I want all of you to give me any suggestion. I am accepting ALL ideas. So far, I have begun construction on the entrance to the city. The city will soon link to Persil Town and possibly cross a bridge to Ville de'Ieau. This city will be a new and important addition to my country. Thank you all for making a wonderful community!

P.S. The updates will only show at a certain zoom.

We might be a wonderful community, but personally, I'm not that nice when it comes to pretty ridiculous city names, I mean, the "City of Desires" and Persil - The Laundry Detergent... Please try to find some more fitting city names that don't hit the verisimilitude too bad in the face and some more original ones that won't make the viewer think about dirty laundry. Check out the real world map of France for inspiration, please.

"Persil" - on french - is parsley. So seen - why not ?

It's not that ridiculous. Pioneers and golddiggers went around naming one-horse-towns things like 'Getrichquick' and 'Luckville'. If it's a new country, they might want to attract people to settle here...

Your city needs a water source nearby. I'd suggest drawing a tributary of the big river to the east.

I cracked up when I saw "Getrichquick"!

@stjur,

I did not even know Persil was a laundry detergent! It probably is not used here. Which means that some people in other countries would think of nothing when they come across settlement names such as Persil.

Like @Sarepava said, it is not that ridiculous when RW French settlements are called Lattes, Nice, Grasse, La Penne and Orange.

;P

My one recommendation would be to consider dropping "Town" from Persil Town and just making it Persil. I don't think Persil is a problematic name- I know of the detergent but would have never thought of it if stjur didn't mention it, and Persil sounds like a fine town name to me. I do think though that sometimes throwing "town" or "city" on the end almost makes it sound less realistic. But that's just my thoughts.

I'm just recommending, but if you want to name city, use Google Translate to translate the name to Spanish, and voila, a nice city name.
