Crowded Server?

Posted by Jesus Antonio on 15 October 2017 in English (English)

I like to make a question: what will be happen if everything gets very crowded, and with the exagerated thing that you can't make new buildings because everything as get very crowded and the oceans are full of crowded islands and there is no green/yellow countries anymore and the blue gets very crowded, what will happen when OpenGeoFiction when gets crowded? (And the under construction countries get avainable and then gets crowded too)

You can always add detail, remodel, change or delete stuff, it's very unlikely that would ever happen. Also I think everyone here should focus on quality, not quantity.

@eklas but what about lag?

Hi. I know what you mean about lag, especially if you edit in OSM. Honestly, I would have to agree more with @eklas. As long as people continue to improve on their old work instead of making lots of new work, OGF will not be filled up as quickly as you may think. Also, it's better to think of that when we're starting to face that problem. We should only focus on what's happening now.

Given that this world is the same size as the real world and OpenStreetMap, with thousands and thousands of mappers is still 'incomplete' I don't think we have to worry.

Like the RW, the world is developing, so any old bI'll dings may have to be demolished for new development.

@ Trombone 2003 Yes. There are certain acronyms and abb in this world, like GB for Gobrassanya, OGF for OpenGeofiction etc.

If your country should be really that crowded you can always start indoor mapping, OSM is just getting started with this and the results are looking really nice, see here for an example, look at the buttons on the right side of the page to select the different levels.

Also there is no lag in OGF, the only thing that could happen are conflicting edits if you are working in a blue country and someone else is faster with uploading than you.

Kind Regards

Martin
