Yeah, I'm curious about this too

Perhaps it would be interesting to develop a brief history about the discovery of the new continent before activate thn ew regions. For better coherence and verosimilitude purposes.

I guess (and I actually mean guessing) that it is indeed going to take a while. Looking at all the issues we have with a coherent history, climate, language distribution etc. in the "old" world, the community/admins would probably want to come up with an underlying structure for the "new" world before opening it to the public. I think at one point the opinion was expressed that only experienced users should be given territories there, but I don't remember exactly.
Anyway, for now there's still heaps of space left in the old world, and many territories that are technically occupied but not really actively developed. So there doesn't seem to be a high pressure right now to start off a complete new set of continents.

@Leowezy I completely agree. In my opinion, the current worldwide history/ coherency/ common development is so nascent and fragile that having to work in a "new world" might break what story we have. There is so much left to do with the existing landmasses... personally I hope the new continents stay locked away for a looong time.

I agree with sushi.
I do not want to see the old world become much more cohesive in nature before we attempt to "colonize" the new one. And I agree that only experienced users should be granted a country in the new world when that does happen. There should be a certain threshold of mapping for each "old world" country before hand.

I can't speak for the rest of admins, but as far as I know the western hemisphere is basically on indefinite "hold" for the reasons refried sushi mentions.

Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if we'd have to wait a while for the new continents to become available. There are still a lot of available territories that nobody has mapped on, and many that are far from complete.
