BLOG IDEA: Articles about OGF

Posted by adminero_us on 21 June 2016 in English (English)

Do you think a blog for articles we all can contribute in could be a good idea? I think articles like "The 10 best cities on OGF" don't have a place in the World News blog but we would like to have them.

I like the idea, I'd like to see that and other interesting things about OGF world and with more comments and participation from other users. I don't know if a blog would be the best place for that, maybe we could do that here, in the diary section...

I have found my own solution: "bliki" = blog + wiki. I like it because it remains "inside" OGF and allows me to place things like multimaps and links to the wiki.

The downside is that you have to be pretty comfortable working with the wiki syntax - it's not super user-friendly or blog-like.

Regardless, I would encourage other users to experiment with this kind of solution. I think the diaries should be for community-wide discussion, while users "blogging" their own experiences could be in their individual wiki user namespaces and "blikis."

Just a suggestion.

Happy mapping.

How could we decide the 10 best cities in OGF, or the 10 best articles, etc??

This way, I see this as "personal choice". So, the best way would be a bliki or some kind of sandbox, as Luciano said...

@BMSOUZA - Yes, perhaps I didn't say that aspect so clearly. The question of what is "best" is better approached as "what I like best" - then it could be kind of like a blog with reviews and personal thoughts about what we like in other work in OGF. Several users have posted things like this on their user namespaces, and I think it's a great idea.

We could decide the best cities comparing several cities and choosing which has more hospitals, schools, Green zones, etc..

We could do that, but there will still be people with another opinion. I also think that a bliki is the best way to do these things.

Btw, I've also create a top 7 list on my user page which includes my favourite OGF countries, you can see it here.

@niels20020 - a good idea! I've added some of my favourites here.

And, there's also this list, now a bit cobwebbed itself...

Blikis are great, although the main downside I see is that they have very low visibility. It can be hard to 'follow' them, and I don't think very many people see them.

For those who don't need to write very often, I personally wouldn't mind seeing occasional 'articles' here in User Diaries, as long as they're original, interesting, and not overly frequent. If you're writing once a month or less, I think most people would be happy to see that level of contribution here.
