Apology for all the short text posts i've been making.

Posted by plainoldbread on 12 July 2017 in English (English)

Hi All I am truly sorry for distrupting the user diaries with short posts every now and then. I have brought it down to this: Either have a seperate website to post my updates to or you'd just view my profile for it, I am not sure about how I can cut down on the posts, maybe you can tell me what I should do. Should I put my progress on a site or in a video, or just make my profile a place to see what i've done.

Thanks _zM. I'll use blikis from now on to document my stuff. My Bliki

Ironically you shouldn't have also posted this as it is also quite short.

Anyway, what is actually a bliki? I have heard of people setting them up but I still don't know what it is.

@zhenkang: A bliki is essentially a mini blog on the wiki side of OGF. I believe all the user blikis are posted here. If not, they should be at least listed on the dashboard.

I wanted to ask a question but a post for it in the user diaries would be short. So I dunno how people get to post on the OGF World News area, and i'd like to ask how I would be able to use it or I can't

@plainoldbread Before you post a question on User Diaries, PLEASE CHECK THESE PAGES!

OGF Faq: http://wiki.opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/OGF:Frequently_asked_questions OGF Help: http://wiki.opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/Portal:User_Help_and_Resources

If you still can't find what you are looking for then you can post something on User Diaries

@plainoldbread Also the OGF World News area is not for asking questions, it's where territory owners can post detailed articles about fictional events occurring in their country.

Hi @tommypoo, thanks for those links; re: your second reply, I have a question. Yes, this post is just a question, but regarding his other posts (not this one), I can understand why @plainoldbread is using it as a forum for updates on his progress. Maybe I missed a bullet point over there on FAQ, but I don't see how User Diaries are restricted to only stories about fictional events. Progress on a country and mapping seems pretty logical to post in Diaries after reading this:

"Is there a forum where I can exchange ideas with other users? Strictly speaking, we don't have one, but the "user diary" feature works pretty well as a replacement. To start a thread, create a diary entry via http://opengeofiction.net/diary/new. Other users can then comment on that entry. To check for new forum entries, check http://opengeofiction.net/diary or better subscribe to the RSS feed. "

I think if progress updates are solely limited to blikis, nobody else is really going to see it unless they go to your bliki. Is that right?

@MrMiyagi: You can always check the recent changes or this blikroll.

User Diaries can certainly be used for progress updates. Just not once per week, more like once every few months or less.
