Greetings, brave mappers out there!
I’m just working on the history of Norðurland. And I thought about that around the Vinn Sea area, there could have existed a commercial-defensive organization of cities and countries like the Hanseatic league around the Baltic and North Sea (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanseatic_League). In my writings, I currently mention it as the “Vinnic League”.
Maybe, this league could even have been revived in (or have survived until) nower days as a supranational union to ease trade as “Vinnic Union”.
Any suggestions about this (like the name or in general), especially from the Vinn Sea - adjacent state owners? If there are no caveats during the next days, I will create a conforming wiki article.
Greetings and happy mapping, Markus
Hello, brave mappers out there!
Currently, I’m working on a map of the suburban railroad network of Frjálshöfn. I’d like to create smooth curves like in Andy’s map of Puerto Real (see here: http://opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/File:Porto-Real-urban-rail-network.png)
However, theses Beizer curves are driving me insane! I don’t figure out how to really create smooth, even curves for a 45 degree angle, and I can’t even think of making two or more of these curves parallel!
Is sb as experienced as Andy is and can share the magic to me? Inkscape or Illustrator doesn’t matter, I have both (even if I prefer Inkscape).
In Elegantia southeast are free some areas for industry use north and south of the motorway # 3. If anybody will place a factory - he/she is welcome. If a factory is founded, I will draw the railway-connection.

In the island bow south of Khaiwoon I plan to set a shipping-line, running about * Jørpenilands * UL314 (free) * UL309 (inactive) * UL308 - Kairranui Islands = Boge * UL307 - Paranabi = BMSOUZA * UL306 - Lallemans = Portopolis * to Khaiwoon and Niulutan-Riu
Please write here, if you not agree with this plan. Thanks.
I wish, some people are more careful with the boundaries of administration-units. If one do not exactly know , what to do, then he (or she) can please look in our wiki-tutorial about boundaries, before he (or she) draws a lot of false boundaries.
So please …
… set not a new boundary at an older boundary without to to make at the connecting node two pieces of the old boundary (with the scissor-tool) . In other case no one of your boundary-relations will work well.
… let never two or more boundary-ways let run about the same nodes. If anywhere is an administrative boundary it is always only ONE way. What a sort of boundary this is, is shown with the admin_level. So if a country-boundary (level 2) and a province-boundary (level 4) have the same way, draw only the country-boundary. The province-boundary between different provinces must end at the country-boundary and NOT run with the country-boundary around your province.
This is the better way as I made in the past, I think.
First draw a playing field (100 * 67 m) with [leisure = pitch]. Then draw the 400m track around with [highway = service]
Third is the inner line of the stadium-building around the 400 m track, here I take [landuse = meadow]. Fourth is the outer line of the stadium, only with the name [name = xyz] - no building-tag is to use.
Then the relation as multipolygone with [type = multipolygone], [ref = abc], [building = yes] and [amenty = public_building]. The “ref” is helpful, to indentificaire different multipolygones.
Sixt step = the outer line (the third) with the name is connected with the multipolygone as “outer” and the inner line (the fourth) as “inner”. The service road and the sport-pitch are not connected with the polygone.
Looks then as this [http://opengeofiction.net/#map=17/-10.87107/43.69139&layers=H]
No wounder about the catpaw. The same photo you can see in the german wikipedia under “Hauskatze” (house cat) [https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hauskatze#mediaviewer/File:Catpaw.jpg] as example and it is my tom-cat “Ziggie” - born in Krete / Greece and now 7 years old. Has an own webside [http://www.ziggie.de] , which cost me 65 €cent a month ;-)
The LMC (Latina Metro Compañia) has published a new map of the metro-system of the city. The backside of the plan - including the lines in the inner city with more details - you can see here = www.horstbu.de/metrolatina.png
[O.k. - not all stations are set and not all stations have a name. That is, becaus the city too is “work in progress”]
There are some express-lines - so each second train of line # 1 north of “Universidad” is an express-train. Between “Artado” and “Universidad” the green line # 7 stops only at “Espana”-railway-station and in the southern part the grey line # 8 goes direkt from “Estacion Sur” to “Fabio Megontes”. The trace of lines # 6 and 7 north of “Universidad” was formerly the trackbed of the northern railway, which now terminated in the main-station (Estacion Central).
The northern part of line # 10 is only in action, if there are the fairies (“Messe”/”Feria”) or if they play in the national stadium. Line # 11 in his northeastern part is in construction still. This line works in two sections 11a and 11b (Ponte Kennedy - Almolario and Est. Sur - Estadio Nacional), so that in the middle part the service is denser.
Between “Independencia” and “Guëll” you see three lines ( ## 1, 5 and 6). They all run - with 6 tracks - in the old area of the eastern fortification of the old town. Between “Guëll” and “Torquez” too are three lines (## 1, 2 and 12) with 6 tracks. Here formerly was a part of the port of Latina, which is now the park of the Esplanade-Boulevard along the shore. The main seagoing ships now start at Saguset-City, where is deeper water.
If you are a friend of soccer-sport, you will find easy all importand places in town.
Have fun with that map.
Between the both parts of the continent Archantia (in “Media”) now is opend a canal for seagoing ships (200 m broad, 4 locks, each of 600 m lenght) between Canal City and Alexandria. This canal can be used from everybody for his shipping-lines.
Wish you a good journey and always six inches water under the keel.

at “view”-mode you have a little skala left down on the screen. In “edit”-mode there is really nothing. Not helpful.
So I have seen, on my screen at zoom 16 (200m) that this 200 m are 34 millimeters on screen. How long this 200 m are on your screen, may differ logically. So I made a little strip of paper and a mark at 17 mm for 100 m, at 34 mm for 200 m and so on. That is for zoom 16. For zooms 17 (100 m) and 18 (50 m) you can set the meters too at your markers.
O.k. - is not perfect, but better as nothing. And by the time you get a feeling for the meters at the scale, in which you work. In doubt you set your paper-ruler softly at the screen
Some mesures = Great churches normally not longer then 80 m, a soccer-field 100 * 67m , one Block in Manhattan / New York 60 * 240 m, one block in the “Eixample” of Barcelona 148 * 148 m.
In some cities it is usual, to give a name for a street only once in the whole town (p.e. Hamburg / Germany). In other great cities a street-name can given twice or more often, but only once in a defined area (p.e. Berlin / Germany).
In Khaiwoon we need a lot of street-names. So I think, a street-name could be used twice or more, but only once in a suburb. What do you mean?
Gratulation. Looks good, All 5 minutes an update is very comfortable.
One thing: the names of retail-areas, industrial-areas and residential-areas did not appear in the new version (so as in the formerly). Can that be made?
