New Mapper - Aden

Posted by Aash on 30 August 2020 in English (English)

Hello, I’ve been mapping for close to two months here and I am enjoying it a lot, I used to map before that but in a more amateur way.

The Country I am mapping is Aden in Tarephia, I would love for you to give me feedback about it. I’ve planned mostly everything and I am finishing the overall mapping of the provinces one by one, the only province that’s mapping is done (without details) is Nadal, if you check it out and give me feedback, it would make my day.

If you want, you can check my wiki page too, I’ve written a cute history about the country with pictures and all that you would like!

Thanks!

At a glance, that looks really good, especially for a brand new mapper! It's far better then what I was mapping at that time, that's for sure! (Also, pretty sure you have a typo here https://opengeofiction.net/#map=15/21.1473/31.1163).

One thing: I don't think that the bridge here, is realistic, since it would be easier just to go around the water, like Ali Ibn Abi Taleb Street does, rather then build an unneeded bridge.

Hello Lithium-Ion, thank you for the feedback, it's not a typo, it's a way of writing an Arabic letter in English and I considered the country as a Mazanic Country with Ingherish affiliation which would come up with the writing Arabic in Latin.

I'll see how to change the bridge! thank you!!!

Hello zhenkang, it mans a lot! thanks!

I like the mapping, and don't want to spoil things, but Aden is a real-world placename (current capital of Yemen, and former name of South Yemen), which the rules say we should avoid in OGF.

Hello, in Arabic, the Yemen Capital is spelled as Adan even though it is written in english as Aden, the name of the country is spelled in a different way and has a total different meaning which is spelled Adin in a way but should be written as Aden because of it to be easier to spell, I've checked the issue since I know about the area in Yemen, but in the wikipage, I tried to show this so I was working on avoiding this problem and hence I believed that I did not break the rule, but of course thank you for your feedback, I will do more research about it and see what I can do!

Great work so far, especially for a new member! I’m amazed at what you’ve been able to accomplish so far in just two months, both on the map and on the wiki. I’ve been on OGF for 4 years and neither of my countries has a proper wiki page yet.
