Is there an OGF equivalent of Greek Life?

Posted by Ernestpcosby on 19 November 2017 in English (English)

I was just wondering, is there an equivalent of Greek Life (or of the country Greece) in OGF as far as fraternities and sororities are concerned?

I was considering mapping a "Greek Village" of sorts on some of my college campuses for fraternities and sororities. It was then I was reminded there is no Greece. "Well then", I thought to myself, "that could be an issue." XD

Maybe something like "Latin Life"?

Part of me thinks it's a bad idea to have them anyways so if there isn't a good equivalent I'll probably just leave them out of my society altogether to avoid grappling with things like widespread hazing, but it would be helpful to know. Thanks.

All I know about the Greek language equivalent is Eganian, or in Rhododactylia it is Hellenic. Another controversial issue again. Haha

I wonder about Latin though, and also whether there was a Greek or Roman Empire elsewhere before in Uletha. So far, we do not have any solid history before 1000s, like what Babylon Empire or Roman Empire

You know, bear in mind that what's called "Greek Life" in the US has almost ZERO to do with Greek culture or even Greek language (except for those letters). So it could just be called something like "Fraternal / Sororal Organizations" and dispense with the word "Greek." Then it's fully generic and you can develop it in any way you want. And there are Fraternal organizations that don't have Greek letters, even in the US - e.g. "Farmhouse International" or "Triangle." So just come up with some interesting or thematic naming scheme and go for it.

Thanks, Luciano. That part never occurred to me XD (I know little to nothing about frats and sororities other than the fact that most of them at my campus don't end well) That's a pretty good point, and it gives me the chance to reshape what that means in Freedemia without it having the problems that real life frats and sororities have. Perhaps I'll do something like Fraternal and Sororal Honors Communities or something, where each one is more of an honor society group.
