Logic of English

I think all countries that talk Ingerish or any "Euro-OGF" language should be colonized in his history bu the actual country (because it is logic isnt?)

Sorry, had to reread that a couple of times. As far as I know the rules of OGF, any direct link with the real world (such as brand names, placenames &c) is not permitted, and therefore colonisation from RW into OGF is similarly proscribed. Also, territories change owner - look at my northern neighbour Koban, which was owned by a Czech-based mapper, and is now named Hinton and owned by a British mapper. What happens in such a situation? Could be a cause for a serious territorial dispute - not a good idea.

@ABD52 I think he meant that any existing country that primarily uses Ingerish should all have a colonisation history by Ingerland.

Thank you, that would make more sense :-)

Not all places that speak english actually have been colonized by england. Which doesn't mean not all Ingerish speaking places have been colonized by ingerland.

That is a very true statement, but those countries are indirectly colonised by England (I.e. via the United States). Take my home land for example, the Philippines. We were a Spanish colony, not speaking any amount of English until the spanish-american war forced the Spanish to give America the Philippines. As a result, we have English as our official language. We're we colonised by England? No, but we were colonised by a country that was colonised by England, otherwise the official language wouldn't be English.

As for the OGF world, not every Ingerish speaking country will be a colony of Ingerland, but they will have at least some connection to Ingerland somehow colonizing them indirectly.

Also, I'd really like to know the de facto France in OGF for the current time (apparently there is a collaborative coming to fill the role) that I can use as a default "coloniser". I currently have Ataraxie set as the default.

Thanks, Zekiel

In this forum discussion , both Ataraxia and Broceliande are mentioned as possible equivalents of RW France. But surfing the wiki, two problems strike me immediately:

  • The official language of Ataraxia is called Ataraxian, not Franquese. Is it another name for the same language?

  • The article on Franquese is gravely utdated: Neither Ataraxia nor Broceliande is mentioned; in stead, several lost countries are linked to. I think some updates should be made immediately to make the article less misleading. Also, a remark banner could be added mentioning that the article will be updated when the UL141 collaborative evolves. I'm not sure about the practice, are these kind of multinational articles open for any user to edit, if there is obvious disinformation?
