Salt Lake City has a 200m*200m grid which is probably the largest for a major city (that is not subdivided further). I'd say 100m*250m is more reasonable, you could just divide your blocks in half and add alleys within them: take a look at Melbourne for example.

If you just want to resize the entire grid, you could always do that using the scale function in JOSM. Or even create a perfect grid with parallel lines and evenly spaced streets, if that's what you're looking for.
