My new airport- Changke International Airport- Possibly something to drop by

My new Airport!

My best piece of work so far, and the product after using JOSM for something major! Did not know JOSM is awesome! My other drafts for the airport were 'terrible', so I decided to review it again, this time using JOSM instead of iD.

This airport's design looks somewhat similar to Khaiwoon's International Airport, where I got the inspiration from, and also some inspiration from real-world's Singapore Changi Airport. I have still yet add in the natural features like grass and meadows around the runways, and the boarding gates etc.

I just want mappers to make honest crticsm, no beating around the bush please, on the new airport, such as what to add on, or what to omit. I have yet named the runways and taxiways, as I still do not understand the naming of runways in OGF:Where to Fly.

And also, anyone is happy to add in their airlines' offices and branches around here. Airlines from Uletha and Antarephia are encouraged to come.

Can also someone else add this to the list of airports? The town served just put Odessa, the Ingerish name, and the country served Singkangia.

This is an aviation hub for flights going from east Uletha to around Archanta. So please, add your airlines branches!

After this airport, new next plans will be the railway systems in Singkangia- to the existing towns. Anyone is also happy to critic on the existing railways.

Wishing all happy mapping.

Location: Terminal 3 Boulevard, Odessa, Singkangia

Looks great!

I marked 'my' runways in the only standardised way I know: the ICAO magnetic compass system. Your most northern pair of runways, ending at the cargo terminal, would then be 11-29 Left and Right, respectively; the one at 90 degrees to it would be 02-20. I honestly do not know what to do with the smaller fourth runway...

If there is a better system on OGF - or if my have my compass bearings wrong, please inform me so.

What ere those 2 round structures near the end of the most southern runway ? Or are they just a sort of roundabouts ?

A few quick thoughts:

  • Your northern parallel runways are too close
  • Much more likely to have a single runway at the north, with the south one parallel to it, and definitely not with the terminal at the end of the runway!
  • I'd say it's too big for your country

@wangi I intend to make the airport an avaiaton hub in the east side of Archanta major. That is way it is quite big.

The north parallel runways, well, it is possibly by two failed architects who failed designing the airpoty. Eventually one plane has to come the oppsit way than the other

Yes, but why would it be a major aviation hub, given the tiny size of the country? Just think about how realistic that would be.

Runways just don't work like that. If any airport had two parallel runways with wide separation then they would not build another too close (VFR only) to one of them. And they certainly wouldn't then close / build an unnecessary terminal at one end of the runway which had the optimal wide separation. Have a read up on parallel runway separation and runway end safety area. Or if you want to get really technical: !

It is an aviation hub since Singkangia needs it to boost its economy. That is more or less why Changi Airport in Singapore is built for. Anyway, the geographical location is not too bad, it is smack in the middle of air routes between East Uletha and South Archanta, for those undirect flights.

After much thought, I think that the runways in the north is too close to each other. The problem now is to mive the runways further apart.

I will move the cargo terminal somewhere safer, after i read those links. Thanks for the honest feedback wangi!

@Marcello thanks for the compliment and the naming of runways.

You've already got the space, and the runways (mostly) - just a small change: Imgur

Aside from having impossibly sharp curves (which we assume are just placeholders) your people mover system needs a rethink. There are umpteen branches, two or even three stations for each terminal, and far too many junctions. It is unnecessary to have so many stops and the train cannot have a platform length where it can usefully carry so many passengers. Much better would be a loop, or even a simple double-track from terminal 2 to terminal 1a. I'm assuming the trains are automated like at most airports that use these.

The mainline rail link is on a wholly unnecessary curve, which adds needless construction costs and inconvenience due to the gap between train and platform.

I would not put the control tower in the middle of a roundabout. It makes access difficult, is further away from the runways, which the controllers need to see, and is a security concern so close to roads.

Have you tried placing aircraft shapes along the terminals to see how many planes the airport can hold? If you assume the gates will need to handle the largest aircraft types - 747 and A380 - there is not actually very much space.

Looking at the country next door, nice to see how considerate the government of Wintania has been to block the Charlottesburg Metropolis' coastal railway and motorway access across the border with a gigantic military base.

@Sarepava - worse still, it's escalated and the border has been shot down...

Maybe about the army base you'll better ask my neighbor (hobsini) about it.

Thanks for all the comments by the way. However, I am quite busy with my homework that I can only implement changes during the weekend or so.
