Ive been thinking about us having our own sort of “Seed Vault”. Something similar to that of the Svalbard Global Seed Vault, i would hope this to be built on the slope of “Lodovec”, a mountain in Litvania at 4698m a.s.l
This would have its own wiki article, and would obviously be on the map. Anyway, i have a lot of ideas nowadays. Let me know if your interested.

Uh, I hate to be the one complaining again, but is it realistic to have a 4700 m tall mountain in Litvania? I mean it would affect the local climate and topography in a major way. Perhaps consider reducing the mountain by 3500 meters or so?
As for the seed vault, I’m not sure if latitude 55 or so (couldn’t find the mountain since you didn’t link the coordinates) is enough. Also, according to your wiki page, Litvania is very densely populated (278 people per square kilometer is CRAZY.) I think the storage should be build further to the north, away from any human settlement.

Yeah, the concept is brilliant but I’d consider building it in a country with a higher latitude. Are there any countries that want to host the seed vault?

@eklas @Yuanls Litvania is divided i to the more densley populated Slavic south, and a sparsely populated Nordic North. That is basically Svalbard. However i do agree with eklas, maybe i a, exagerrating a bit with the height of the mountains. I would really like to HOST it though, since it was my idea(i know that may sound childish, however i want to make sure Litvania will mean simething internationally).

I understand that- I guess everyone wants their country to be somehow relevant or important.
Now that you’ve stated that Litvania comprises of two very different nations, the potential of your country as a location for the seed vault has only decreased. What if there was some tension between the two nations or even war?
Maybe try looking for some alternatives. Litvania could be the leading country in botanical research. Or in square meters of garden per capita. Or the home of some major biologist. The possibilities are endless.

@eklas i didnt mention anything about Litvania being two nations. I only said that the north has a more nordic culture, while the south is more slavic.

The point is that Svalbard is several hundred kilometers distant from anything else, much more safely isolated from humanity than Litvania is.
However, I think there can be more than one seed vault in the OGF world… so it’s fine to have one vault in Litvania and another vault in a more remote spot elsewhere.
(I’m also unsure why a peak of 4700m would be inherently unrealistic? For example, Kilimanjaro rises to a comparable height above its surrounding terrain and would cover only a fraction of Litvania’s land area.)

Why not have a Litvanian ‘overseas territory’ in the far north, like Svalbard.

@isleño @Ūdilugbulgidћū Well, since i was 5, my nation had thousands of overseas territories. I really like this idea, but i dont know if it is fair to others, since all the Islands on the north are taked by Norðurland.
If there was a possibility to take a small island, or even draw a new-Svalbard like-archipelago somewhere in the Great Northern Sea, or even further north, then that wiuld be awesome.

We’re experimenting with a fairer standard for granting additional territory: see OGF:Requesting more territory for details. For a small island under 20,000 km², 10% of Litvania would need to be covered in high detail. In the meantime, I don’t see any problem with having a vault in Litvania and a vault elsewhere.

@isleño - this is a very good suggestion & Litvania, there’s your answer to develop your own ‘Svalbard’ in future, vaults and all.
@eklas - I see your points about mountain height and pop density being at odds with each other in this case.
@Litvania - for me personally, for a country to mean something internationally in OGF it doesn’t have to be big or powerful. The most creative countries, within the paramaters set by verisimillitude, are the most interesting. Fitting your countries into the rest of the world deepens this: therefore work with your neighbours and use this to collaborate internationally to give ‘international visibility’. Eklas makes good points.
