needing some help with JOSM
Posted by BMSOUZA on 28 October 2014 in Brazilian Portuguese (Português do Brasil).Excuse me if anyone just ask about it before, but I am having some problems since yesterday using the JOSM I edit and create a lot of streets off-line, but I can not send it to the site,
-Comunication time with OSM server “http://opengeofiction.net/api/0.6” is over. Please try again-
I try again, and nothing… I did not change any configuration, nothing that could cause this What I can do to fix it??
Bruno
Aditional information: It starts to send… so, a long time ago, starts a “repetition” five times, and finally says -Comunication time with OSM server “http://opengeofiction.net/api/0.6” is over. Please try again-
Maybe because I am sending 5.172 objects???

A few weeks ago I had some really terrible experiences with losing some major edits, 10000+ objects, with similar error messages. I think that it was a problem with my ISP (my internet company) and not with the OGF website. They were preventing timely completion of transactions across the internet, or something. I have worked hard to change my habits and do updates of smaller data sets more frequently since then. It’s frustrating but I don’t think there is a simple solution.

Thanks, Luciano! Right now I am trying to send “one by one” (in somewhere, I found this option in JOSM), around one hour, and 67%… If this “fix” the problem, I let the friends know
When I am at home, my notebook stay connected in Internet all day long, but when I am at work (off-shore, 14days at month) I cant connect when I want… so I use JOSM off-line and send sometimes a week…

this method solves the problem, I think. Now, Itororó, in south of capital Itacolomi, starts to appear http://opengeofiction.net/#map=13/9.9029/96.2871

Congrats. I also used the “upload selection” one-by-one for some things - be careful as I ended up with a lot of duplicated objects which are hard to find - like each way existed twice on the exact same nodes. I think for the “upload selection” to work correctly you have to have your work properly divided into layers. I have been trying to learn how to do that.

In the advanced tab of the upload window, set it to upload in chunks. This will be somewhat faster than individually.

NE2, this way you said, I usually did, but now it does not work, maybe because my Internet server. “One-by-one” has been the solution. Slowly, but solution in my case…
