What would be the motherland to portuguese languages in OGF ???
Posted by BMSOUZA on 2 November 2014 in Brazilian Portuguese (Português do Brasil).Thinking about languages in a “more seriously” way, hehehe…
I claimed the TA121 thinking about create a motherland to Luslandese language (Portuguese from Portugal) and Brasonian language (Portuguese from Brasil)
But, exploring the OGF world, I found two possible countries with the same idea I`ve had.
In http://opengeofiction.net/#map=5/-43.835/34.014 there is a “República Portuguesa” (Portuguese Republic), and in http://opengeofiction.net/#map=8/56.541/30.850 there is a country with names from Portugal (A little explanation: For example, in Portugal, a man`s name is “António”. In Brasil, the same name is “Antônio”)
I will follow my “Gran-Luslândia-TA121 project”, but I would like to know more about these countries and ideas because they have a influence in the history of the languages, and, for extension, my GranLuslândia.

The answer to any question is the same: ancient aliens.

In http://opengeofiction.net/#map=5/-43.835/34.014 there is a “República Portuguesa” (Portuguese Republic) …..
…. and thousands of other countries - only with the name. I do not think, that this item could have importance for the history of language at the OGF-Planet. So the origin of spain and other romanic languages for Latina I seek in south-west Uletha

I’m not sure why this hasn’t been discussed yet, but Latin was a tribal language of northern Pretany. The Nortian Tribe. All latin and romance language should have over time branched from that point over time. The papacy is located in St. Richards.

The plot with “República Portuguesa” is one of many “countries” that have the name of real life countries (also seen is Medinat Yisrael - Israel). There has been nothing there for at least 6 months (which is about how long I have been a member of OpenGeofiction), so that shouldn’t be the “Portuguese” homeland.

Seemed to me very british, St. Richard an environs …..
Comment from BMSOUZA on 3 November 2014 at 00:30
NE2 watching History a lot! hehehe
I think “St.Richards” so anglo-saxon too…
I will “assume” my GranLuslandia (south of Latina) as the modern-portuguese (Portugal and Brasil, ops… Luslandia and Brasonia) homeland. Other latin languages in OGF, like spanish, french or italian, I dont know.

Yes after the reformation of the churches you’d have to read my history page for Pretany and the building of the temples. Anywho. There are other cities there Maximo turrim, Turpis locus, Ostia, bengradium, agrivalli, st. Genevieve, prairie du rocher, etc etc. read my language section of the wiki page. The country was taken over a couple of times
Comment from bhj867 on 3 November 2014 at 02:02
It is very “British” now, thanks to an Ingerish, kalmish, culture./linguistic takeover now known as Pretanic.
Comment from BMSOUZA on 3 November 2014 at 02:12
Ok, so. In history of GranLuslandia, I will not mention much about the history of the languages, only about the people. It will avoid any problem with other explanations, like this from Pretany. Best regards! Bruno Moreira

Yeah, we literally have two independent regions that formed Latin. Not good.
Comment from BMSOUZA on 3 November 2014 at 13:32
not necessarily. May be in Pretany the Latin was born, and spread in other countries, like the mines. My countries speaks luslandese and brasonian (portuguese and portuguese from Brasil), not Latin.

On the first look many think, that Tarephia and Antarephia is something like America (yes, I too), that Archantia can be something like Africa and that the eastern part of Uletha remembers at Asia. So that the western part of Uletha can play the role of Europe - and so can be the orign of the indoeuropean languages and the colonists, who have settled the OGF-planet.
I remember the map of isleño some month ago, on which he has tried, to follow this streams of languages and of peoples, who speak this languages. But this is not “official” before a history of the OGF-world is written. But clear was, that “Dagelanden” can be the orign of the dutch speaking poeple (surveyor Van Pelt came from there).
The orign of romanic speaking people - beginning with latin and spreading out to french, spain, italian, portuguese (and brazilian), romanian and other romanic languages for me is unclear, then I see in western Uletha no land, who could this be. Guyenne is french - but that can be a colony or an outpost of an fictive latin speaking imperium.
Sathria? Most names have an indoeuropean touch, but latin or romanic? - Galicja is slavic at each case. Mazan declaired as semitic speaking. Kalm more germanic. But Pretany is too englsh as to be the romanic source.

Histor, we have come to an impasse and solved it as BMSOUZA has already stated. Your country may have had a different “latin source” then. It does not bother me if other people think Pretany is too “british” to be the latin source. Other people do not have to follow the same narrative, all I am saying is I am not changing the history of my country, which I wrote when the wiki first opened it’s door.
Pretany had latin roots from an indigenous people. I have multiple cities with latin root names in the northern 3rd of my country (Port Emporia, St. Genivieve, Prairie du Rocher, Turpis Locus, etc). I have to come up with an explanation for them, so I created my own. I’m not changing that explanation. There will just be multiple “latin sources” with multiple explanations for different countries then. I am just giving an option for other countries to use, that is all.
Comment from bhj867 on 4 November 2014 at 00:10
Histor, maybe your own country can be it’s OWN latin source from it’s own indigenous tribe. That’s an idea.
Comment from bhj867 on 4 November 2014 at 00:12
Maybe Florescenta for you?
Comment from histor on 4 November 2014 at 00:31
@ bhj867 I do not care for any land, what can be the source of latininan language of the OGF-planet. LATINA is a most spanish and few dutch speaking colony from anyone. If Dagelanden can be the durch orign - why not? ZYLANDA has a lo-german language - coming from a not defined land.
Sure - you can write your history of Pretany as you want it. Why should I speak into your imagines? I see only the more british style there and from this reason for me it is not the first choice for a latin source. Latin names say not all.
O,k, - You can say, that names are changing like Eburacum - Eoferwyk - York or Lindum to Lincoln and so on and that is a strong argument on your side. But for me this question has only lesser importance. On OGF-Planet are a lot of spanish or similair speaking countries, so that under this look the origin had to be strong, as the colonist go out in other lands - and that is not a land, who was conquered from others.
I think, a OGF-history with a good structure is no simple think. So people can go at this work and then I can accept this try - or not. But everybody, who tries this, will have problems with the established history of the owner of the lands, who had written theyr history with many work in the wiki.

I get what you are saying now.

I did not want to declare a “War of the origin of the languages”. For Example: I see Dagelanden with “dutch people”. Where are their ancients from? I dont know So, as I say before, I will assume that my GranLuslandia like the motherland of portuguese languages. I would not know to say from what land “my ancient people” came from. In my case, because geografic location, the most “acceptable” is that they came by Latina, but I would not know to say if they were from Latina, or if they just came from Pretany and passed in Latina before reach GranLuslandia. It will make no difference to the history of GranLuslandia.
Sorry about this “War”, friends! Bruno Moreira

Why not just treat it as an open scientific question, for which there are several competing theories, but no conclusive answer yet? It happens in the real world too:

Carpathia will also speak portuguese, actually so… aliens? Maybe!
Comment from BMSOUZA on 12 November 2014 at 21:27
Carpathia too??? Aliens, maybe. hehehe But I prefer to say “immigrants waves” The doubt is: where are the firsts carpathians from??? They came from Pretany or GranLusland??? hehehe I can understand Pretany like a motherland to Old Latin, its OK, but I create GranLusland like a motherland to portugueses dialects (Luslandese - from Portugal, and Brasonian - from Brasil)
