Infoboxes in Wiki
Posted by BMSOUZA on 17 December 2014 in Brazilian Portuguese (Português do Brasil).I was trying to create a infobox in the wiki page I created to the metropolitan transit authority in Slovech (Transurb Slovech). I used as example a infobox copied from MTA Miami wiki page, but it does not works.
You can see in edit page http://opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/Transurb_Slovech
How can I fix it?? I tried too using the “country infobox”, changing the informations, but anywya does not works too. Could someone help me??
Regards! Bruno Moreira
PS: I did not try yet, but I see I will have the same problem if I use infobox to any football club or sportive confederation, like OGFIA

It’s because the infobox template that you used does not exist in the OpenGeofiction wiki. The software used to build and render the wiki, MediaWiki, does not have infoboxes preloaded (I’m actually not sure, the country infobox could be preloaded).
I’ll get started on making that infobox template right now.

I’m still learning how to do things on the wiki, but I think your problem is you need to create the infobox first (some page with a name like Template:infobox Public Transit). The infoboxes on wikipedia are not automatically included in our OGF wiki - we have to create them one-by-one as we need them. In my efforts to make infoboxes so far I realized there are a lot of “objects inside other objects” which means that creating good infoboxes needs several layers of objects and programming code to work properly. I am still not good at it.

I just made the infobox template simply by copying and pasting the template code from Wikipedia, but it relies on other templates that don’t exist in the OGF wiki, so I will be working on that too.

…Aaaaaand I can’t find the source code for Template:Infobox.
So I created the template, but it doesn’t work, even when copy-pasting a template that works directly from Wikipedia. It looks like that’s because Template:Infobox doesn’t exist on the OGF wiki, but the Public transit infobox relies on Template:Infobox, and because I can’t find the source code for it, I can’t create a template on the OGF wiki in order for the Public transit infobox to work. I, like Luciano, am not too experienced with these kinds of things. I have no idea of what to do next to fix this.

… and I am nothing experienced with these kind of things, hehehe.
Anyway, thanks for trying help!

Anyone even heard about “Jeitinho brasileiro” ( brazilian way) ??? hehehehe I use the “jeitinho brasileiro” right now. If I am not good about creating templates, I am good in MS Paint.

Now, “it works”, hehehehe

Yes, I tried to create an airline template by copying Wikipedia’s, but it displays mostly garbage in the boxes. The image idea could be the way to do it.

It was the best way I could think, Sarepava…
It could be useful about all these templates our Wiki do not have. - Transport companies; - Sport clubs; - General Organizations;
etc etc etc
The only problem is, the “links” does not works, of course, hehehe. In my “template-image”, there would be a link in words “Slovech”, “Slovech districit” and “Belgravia”, to pages I created. But… ok, hehehe!!!!

Actually, I really liked Bruno’s “hack” (!) - but nevertheless I have been trying to solve the infobox problem. I’m not sure this is the best infobox, but I tried to imitate a bus company infobox from wikipedia but without all the dependencies that wikipedia’s infoboxes apparently have. As a test case, I made a page using this new infobox for a small bus company in northern Ardisphere. It looks OK but not great. http://opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/TorreBus

Luciano, your infobox is great! You get the right codes and made a template, like I was wanting to do. But I think I will continue using my “image-template”, because, now, I am creating infobox about transport companies, but soon, I will need to create tempelates about OGFIA, Belgravian Superleague of Soccer, etc etc etc.
I am curious about the layout and the buses of TorreBus, hehehe
