I’m trying to get JOSM to work with OGF, but it’s not working out. I added the tms URL correctly, as shown in josm_02, but when I try to download a section of the map, all I see are tiles with a big red cross through them, instead of a more normal hourglass icon, or a map.
What to do? I’m desperate

Sometimes I get big red Xs when I try do download areas inside JOSM, too. I’m not sure what causes this, but I suspect a data connection issue (bad ISP or maybe fish eating some transoceanic cable). One workaround that I sometimes use is to use the “export” function in the map viewer here in OGF, download and save the .osm file fragment on my computer, then open the osm file with JOSM.

I use JOSM since I get started in OGF. I never use JOSM to download any area. I use the “Export” option in the OGF page to download any area I edit. As Luciano said. I think it is the best way!

Oh, great! It works! And when I’m done editing, I can just click the upload button and it uploads! Thanks, both of you!
