You should leave a bit space between buildings, street and river. Also try to make the buildings not to rectangular. Also for the square, use a square with the tag plaza, so it doesn't has a green background. Finally, the river is a bit too wide. Make it 100m or such a delta would really be natural. In addition, the Freeway in the middle of the city makes not much sense. Otherwise pretty good quarter...

I'll give some space between the river and buildings. The only reason why the museum and theater is still on the river is because the theatre is against the river and the museum has a boat testing area in the river. I think I want to keep the shops together, just based of the Real French Quarter, although do some restructuring. I fixed the delta

Remake it. The buildings are too wide 50x50m? wtf, make it 10x10m, make the steets not super squary (atleast if thats your plan ex: spanish contruction in america, then delete it, if not then add a more curved streets) make the river better and smaller and mroe detailed, make the beach smaller, add details, remove that over-grass is too unrealistic... and the highways make it better.

Well, I see no use of the motorway if there are no links, but I have seen many places where the freeway (like US 101), when it approaches a major city, it turns into a trunk road. Maybe you could do that to the motorway when it approaches the city.

Good luck! -iiEarth

The mapping is quite good and nicely detailed! But I do think for what you're going for, it would help to have multiple smaller buildings in place of the current large ones. Similar building footprint shape to what you have now, but splitting them up into smaller buildings, some up against each other, some with some alleys in between.

Even in the real French Quarter, if I'm correct, the buildings are shaped similar to what you have but are almost more blocks made of smaller buildings that are sort of built up against each other, creating the illusion of larger blocks but technically more like a front of multiple. I might be wrong there but I believe that's how it is...

I could do something like keeping the big building, but overlapping areas over it for the shop ownership area?

Yeah, that seems reasonable. I've done that a lot with some of my buildings. I can't say that that's the PROPER way to do it, lol, but it's probably what I would do

As the framework of a concept, its not terrible - do what Ernestpcosby says and it will start to look realistic. Once you've got a small area right then you can work on something bigger. There is a lot yon need to add - for example, roads over water should be bridges. Check OSM and see what tags are used there.

Got it. I have know the road over water problem, and will fix it once I start to develop on the other side of the river
