Creating Infobox templates on the wikipedia

Posted by Demuth on 19 September 2016 in English (English)

So, I was inspired by Deltanz' Golden Delta Film Awards to write a wiki article about Wiwaxia's entry in the awards. Despite my serious lack of digital savvy, I made one feeble attempt in my sandbox at creating an infobox template for films. Not surprisingly, it failed. Any advice on creating infobox templates? Or someone else who knows how to do them want to create one like the Wikipedia wikipedia film infobox?

My priority was to make one for historic sites, which I've just done. I would also like one for films - could do it, but it won't happen quick, sorry. If no-one else replies...

I'd like to see a film infobox as well. Also would be nice is an extended countries infobox, like most of the ones on Wikipedia and a former countries infobox for countries that no longer exist.

I've also thought about setting one up, but haven't gotten to the point where I need one yet.

You could use the one I made for music recordings as a starting point. http://opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/Template:Infobox_music_recording

Or, if you let me know what you think should be on it, I could set one up.

Great - I'll sort something out later today, based on that.

Template is up (I won't post the link as it looks like that may change!). I'm open to adding anything that may be missing.

Locations aren't in the real wiki template, but will help us link to the map.

If you add categories 'Film' and 'Fiction' to your wikis that may also help organise it.
