Undo of whole changesets

Posted by EMKLI on 2 December 2016 in English.

Hi there!

During the last days, I was the victim of several “rookie attacks”, there were unwanted modifications in my country from several new editors (i think you all experienced this kind of edits). Even if those edits are quite small and localized in general, it would be quite comfortable to just undo the changeset the user made. Is there any way to implement this?

Greetings and happy mapping! Markus

I have come to believe that developing expertise in changeset reversion (i.e. using JOSM as isleño mentions) is a must-have skill for any OGF landholder. I deploy this skill several times a month in my territories (mostly Mahhal) - not to mention having used it for correcting my own stupid mistakes more than once.

Apparently, there is something weirdly tempting about near-polar islands to newbie mappers with poor rule-reading skills - as Norðurland and Mahhal seem to draw more than their fair share of vandalism. Is it the same impulse that motivates drunk snowmobilers to pee in clean snow? I experimented with turning the entire country of Mahhal into a pink military zone, but that did not seem to function as a deterrent.

I think someone did something like that with Narghana, the country next to Freedemia- there’s an interstate at the northern border of Narghana that goes absolutely nowhere… I haven’t gotten JOSM fully operational yet, so I don’t want to be irritating but if anyone could help fix./delete that, it would be greatly appreciated.

This would be really useful indeed for me, as i am not at all happy with my Loráva setup, and would be willing to change it.

Hmmm… Sounds promising, but I guess you should be absolutely sure that you didn’t make any changes by hand to the changes and additions the undesired guest made.

For the highway in Narghana it’s probably best to contact the owner of that country and let them know about it.

As for Loráva, it seems to have been created with a large number of changesets, so it would be annoying to go back and reverse all of them. If you’re not satisfied with the whole town, it’s probably easier to just delete and start over.
