Hi there,
I just want to see if my mapping is correct with the scale. I have created a small area for experimenting, and I would like to have all of you to check it.

In normal ‘view’ mode, in the default ‘Mapnik’ rendering view, the lower left of your screen should show a scale . At highest zoom rate (19) that reads 20 metres (50 feet for the metrically handicapped). Thus, you can see - as I do - that your blocks seem to be about 40 to 60 metres long by 20 to 25 metres deep. For a modern city that is way too small - you should double at least those dimensions. For a medieval city they would do; but your grid does not suggest that.
There is decent documentation on the ‘net - and indeed on this site - on grid sizes (like the classic New York grid vs. other American cities etc.) Once you have a couple of blocks right, you get the picture.
