I am making a wiki portal for my country, the Ardisphere. I like the idea a lot, and it is progressing well. Let me know what you think, and if you have any suggestions, ideas, or criticisms.

That’s impressive. I remember Thilo suggested doing something similar for the main page of the OGF wiki… maybe that idea can be resurrected, matching the colors and style of Wikipedia’s main page.

Definitely I agree about a better main page… I’ve been thinking about starting some kind of “map-of-the-day” feature, using the multimaps tool, but I think to do it right, we will need some additional mediawiki extensions to be installed. I’m learning-as-I-go on this wiki stuff - never did it before, but I had done some webpages back during web 1.0.
Anyway we can use the transclusion aspect, as I did on my portal, to create sub-parts of the main page, each could be updated and “managed” separately - maybe by different people to divide the workload.
