OpenGeofiction
I’ve been messing about in Carpathia and, since I’m very rail oriented, I decided to adopt the OpenRailway tagging system for my country. I stumbled upon this group as I was searching for a way of detailing my railway.
In practise I don’t think anything changes since our renderer cannot handle these kind of information. Either way, it’s just a way of tagging some aspects that are not traditionally shown or cared about.

In my railroad work, earlier, I attempted to follow this standard, and in general I think it’s a very good idea to follow ALL OSM standards as much as possible in mapping. Currently my railroad work is “on hold” while I focus on other aspects of my mapping, but when I resume my railroad work I will continue trying to follow the standard - although I also intend to “supplement” it in my efforts to get sufficient data for creating “automated” extract articles and maps for the wiki (e.g. this article, including map and route diagram, being produced using a script on the map data rather than manually).
