Height?? There is not a way to show height in OGF or OSM…

About terrain, please, explore the tags “landuse”, “natural” and “leisure”.

Example:

landuse=meadow, grass, etc natural=beach, bare rock, water, etc leisure=sports center, pitch, etc

@BMSOUZA - I think mikelatham is referring to the topo-map style. The classic example is Thilo’s Roantra:

http://opengeofiction.net/#map=8/45.209/27.790&layers=T

There is also Khaiwoon (by Thilo and isleño):

http://opengeofiction.net/#map=11/18.5258/89.3182&layers=T

I did some initial work on a small scale at Southeast Ardisphere:

http://opengeofiction.net/#map=13/-25.0666/124.8972&layers=T

and at Eastern Mahhal:

http://opengeofiction.net/#map=8/-65.852/103.601&layers=T

@mikelatham - this is a feature not currently available to regular users. For expert users, the first step is to become a master of the JOSM editing tool, and then use that tool to draw your terrain information OFFLINE - there is no room for contour lines in the main OGF database.

If you can produce a JOSM (.osm) file with contours (again, this must be OFFLINE), then Thilo has been developing a utility that converts it into the background terrain map image seen in the topo style referenced above. I made my two small sections of topo-style by emailing my .osm files to Thilo so he could run his utility.

I hope that makes sense. I have learned a lot (and continue to learn) in trying to implement this.

Happy mapping!
