Depends on what kind of urban sprawl you want. Dense like in europe or spread out and wide with big houses like the US. If you want US-style sprawl obviously you’ll get less blocks in 1 mile. An average houston block is 330x330ft so roughly 100x100m. Taking away the streets that means youll get maybe 7,8 blocks per km. I’ll guess for sururban style sprawl 12 blocks/mile should be fine. Remember the further you go the larger the blocks get until you reach the edge.
