I am getting into the swing of using JOSM but I still find relations much more confusing there than I do on Potlatch.
How do I load an existing relation? I have relations set up with all the branches of my stores and hotels and I want to add a new node to one but I cannot work out how and I cannot see any answers in the documentation.

1: Select a node or way already in the relation
2: Bar on the right: Look for the “Tags/Memberships” box
3: Under “Member Of”, find the relation and double-click on it.
4: You should see a “Edit relation …” dialog.
5: In the main window, select the item you want to add.
6: Add your new node/way to the relation via the dialog.
7: Click “OK”
8: Done!

@_zM is there a way to load it from relation number because I want to add stores to a relation where the other members are the other side of the country and it would be impractical to select a node in that relation.

SCNR: That’s why relations are not good for such often changing things ;) You could add brand=* to every object in question quite easy once via the L0 editor and then use an overpass-Query to display them all. That way you don’t even have to use a relation. Another advantage, especially in a collaborative Project is that everyone can add new things at the same time and you don’t get version conflicts…
For an example of this see my TransContinentalPowerNetwork, it uses ref:TCPN for identification of lines, also no relation needed…

Windows/Relation; adds the Relation pane to your display. The text box just under the “Relations: nn” label can be used to search through relations, or scroll through them.
