can anyone work out what has happened to highway=pedestrian relations as they appear to have stopped being displayed properly on the render
for example here my library has disappeared

I’m still computerless in north Queensland, so I can’t guess why you’re seeing problems. I can only say that in looking at various of my own rather complex highway=pedestrian relations I’m not seeing any render issues e.g. at Tarrases Zoo (http://opengeofiction.net/#map=16/-58.3183/83.9778) or Quelepa (http://opengeofiction.net/#map=17/-21.79137/121.64670).

These need to be set as multipolygon relations. Set the outer way of the area to be displayed within the highway=pedestrian multipolygon as “inner” in the relation. Or select both and CTRL + B is your friend.

Yes I noticed that the pedestrian polygone has the priority in terms of “layer”. It will cover all the things there are inside. What I do in this case it’s drawing the pedestrian zone surrounding the buildings without including it or (easier) I select the two polygons (pedestrian and building) with shift key pressed and when appears a “+” I click on it. Then the pedestrian zone shows a border around the buiding inside. I don’t know if it’s a good advice but it works ;)

Same problem as in http://opengeofiction.net/user/TRJ/diary/1608 .
If you’re using JOSM you can select everything involved and Update the relation with just one Click.
