When I contribute to OSM one of the tasks I like to do is updating the transport data for a few cities in the UK. This is shown on the Transport Layer which shows bus routes and gives rendering priority to public transport infrastructure.

I don’t know how feasible it is to bring this feature into OGF? It would be nice to be able to add bus routes and have them render on the map.

Since my move from Archanta to Uletha I’ve had to re-jig my international connections. As such I’m once again asking to set up some air routes for Myrcian Airways.

Dunwic International Airport is a large, international hub for north-western Uletha and so I’m looking for flights across the northern hemisphere and I want to have them for both Myrcian Airways and your own airlines.

Hello all,

After my discussion about language in my last post I asked the admins if I would be able to move my nation from southern Archanta to NW Uletha for reasons of historical, linguistic and cultural continuity.

The very kind Luciano has agreed to move Mercia this weekend to a spot 100km off the coast of Ingerland and Scandmark and deal with the scaling issues that come with moving a country so far north.

I have decided now would be a good time to change the name of my capital from Elmham to (the more pleasing) Dunwic. I have edited the Wiki and I will edit the mentions on the map at some point this evening.

I am looking forward to making connections with my new Ulethan neighbours and to writing more history and culture for my little island nation.

I’ve begun to sketch out a history for my tiny island nation, stranded off the coast of Archanta. I wanted to make it as insular as possible so the nation has never been colonised but has acted as something of an academic centre from the 18th century onwards.

This leads to the question of language. I have created my nation in English but with Anglo-Saxon saints and religion. Would it be realistic to have an old language of Mercian which has mostly died out but remains the language of the national religion and then to have Ingerlish as its replacement?

I would imagine that Ingerlish originated from foreign scholars and traders in the 18th century but by the time of the industrialisation of the nation in the 19th century had replaced Mercian in the realms of education and business. By the 20th century Mercian was broadly forgotten (except in very rural areas) and Ingerlish spoken by 90% of the population. Today there could be a resurgence of interest in Mercian but Ingerlish spoken as the official national language.

This would avoid the need for colonisation by Ingerland and allow me to use English in mapping and writing about the country but also to pepper it with mentions of the old language of Mercian.

I’ve spent the evening adding some detail and realism to the centre of my capital city, Elmham.

I like to share my work every so often and get some constructive feedback. It’s been a lot of fun thinking on a micro level about the city instead of laying out the streets and transit lines.

So far it’s quite a small area I’ve worked on but it’ll be expanding as I go.

Mercia is a small island nation so my model here is based on Malta, I am looking for medium-haul flights to regional and international hubs and for trade and business routes. Malta’s most far-flung destinations are Dubai, Moscow and Stockholm. I would like my flights to be restricted to the area shown in the route map. - Adam

Hi there,

I really love what’s going on here and have enjoyed looking lots at the wiki and other people’s countries. I decided to get stuck-in on the common area of the map this afternoon and have managed to create a small city.

I used Potlatch 2 which is what I’m used to using on OSM. I don’t edit OSM much but used to spend hours on it when I was bored at work.
