Hello fellow mappers,
Inspired by the UN World Heritage Site list, I created the Assembly of Nations World Monuments list here: http://opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/AN_World_Monuments. Please add any sites in your country that are relevant and likely to be on the list. This is at your discretion, but try to keep it to sites that would realistically fit the criteria - a huge palace built by the most powerful emperor would qualify, an obscure and unremarkable town castle wouldn’t. Realistically most moderate sized-countries would contain 5-10 sites, unless they are very important historically (Spain and Italy have a massive number of WH sites in the real world proportionate to their size).

Your idea is good and you have done, what I had planed since some time. So let us discuss in the wiki about the rules. In “Lists” I create one list for cultural and one for natural heritage.

I was planning to write the article of Anesco (which has headquarters in Egani) in the comming weeks, and start a list with nominations and some rules. We could create them together.

I loved your idea the way you suggested, I’ll keep reading the talk section to see what happens, but thanks anyway for beginning this!

Looks like a great idea and could be inspiration to create some fascinating places. The UNESCO list is, in some ways, a ‘competition’ to gain funding for preservation or protection of sites that are recognised internationally. But it is really the international recognition that is important, because individual countries can only propose sites, I think, not designate them (although it looks to be more complicated than that because of the ‘rolling representation’ on the panel). I’ll follow the discussion on the talk page, it looks like a good start.
