Coffee Break Construction: December 2016

Posted by Sarepava on 7 December 2016 in English (English).

Luciano’s monthly challenges have helped us all focus our mapping efforts on a particular aspect of the task.

As a compliment to this, I will be starting a series of mini-tasks to bring some suggestions for your maps, and when I say mini, it really is no more than a few minutes’ work - hence the ‘Coffee Break Construction’.

As one seasonal song put it ‘so here it is…’

December 2016 CBC:

Create a music venue in your city. It could be anything from a huge international venue, a historic concert hall or a tiny backstreet jazz club. OSM doesn’t have a specific concert hall icon, so either use ‘theatre’ or ‘bar’ for small venues serving drinks. Consider the clientele and styles of music being performed. Will there need to be access for roadies in large trucks? Are there shops and bars within large venues?

Share links to your creations below. Happy mapping!

Great Idea, I might add something to Westriver or Praetor Hills, which are both the premier Tourist burbs for Avewood. Here is a bit of what I have done so far in Westriver- http://opengeofiction.net/#map=18/13.80567/95.40719 This is a wealthy suburb that is predominantly Ingerish speaking so the names follow in Ingerish.

I’ve already done this actually!

This is one of the first things I made on OGF and never got around to refining it, hence the lack of detail. I plan to refine the area and add more venues when I finish some of my other projects. The area along Wharton Avenue is supposed to be a row of small Jazz clubs, comedy clubs, a few small theaters, and other fun nightlife. And it’s just a few blocks from the university!

I have a few examples in Dunwic already which could all do with some added detail (and probably some more thinking about logistics). There’s the Flyht Myrcia Árena and the Mid Bank Árena as well as the Marlowsson Theatre (which has a converted warship on which concerts are performed) and the Wash Yárds.

I decided to use my coffee break (from writing philosophy essays) to add some detail to St Benedict and create a centre for bars, nightclubs and pubs in central Dunwic. It’s near the bus station with closely-packed streets and historic buildings, I thought it was the perfect area for this.

St Benedict

The main focus is on Ranstád Stræt which I have pedestrianised. Otherwise the new additions are a central building for my Quaker-like religion the Séftnes, a new theatre, more detail in the bus station and the parks and lots of new shops, bars, restaurants, pubs, cafés and nightclubs.

Not a bad use of a coffee break.

I spent a few hours-long coffee break writing up “Lucha” in Tárrases. There are quite a number of other clubs in the neighborhood and to the north, which is the main popular “scene” in the Duchy.

Great idea, Sarepava! Thanks for coming up with this.

I cranked out three dozen places for the Paiphangun area of Khaiwoon, including “Avapera’s” :-)

I made this one in Belleville. A theater on a pier with coffees and restaurants.

I’m a bit late, but I created the Sala de Música Municipal de Morros.

Btw, I really love this idea. I think it’s a great way to create more detail in cities.
