I’ve just recently started mapping on Opengeofiction and created my first Town Hev and i would like some feedback on it. I also edited the local coastline as best as i could.
Wow, this actually looks really good for a first attempt of mapping on OpenGeofiction! I can clearly see that you know how a central European town develops along the centuries, I like the way you included the old town and the new commercial center to the town’s street grid. The only problem is die Römerstraße - in OpenGeofiction we don’t have Römer. Try to stay away from any real world references. But other than that, love your work and can’t wait to see more :)
Thanks for the kind answer. I’ve literlly read all of the tutorial stuff on the wiki befor starting and at one point it said i should look at real citys and analys how they work so i had done that.
Thanks for the addvice of the Römer Straße. Totally forgot that, will be fixed in several minutes.
Looks nice, your village. You can add some schools, a football-place and a small fishing-harbour or a marina in the bay.
If you will use german names, then correct spelling is “Wehrweg, Heidestraße, Kirchenweg, Lilienstraße” (in one word) and “Jacov-Mark-Straße” (with the -). You write only “Bremer Straße” if this road real will lead to “Bremen” or if the road is named after a place named so.
And instead of Coastline highway you can use “Küstenstraße” or “Küsten Landstraße” or “Uferstraße” or “An der Küste” or “Meerufer”. But sure in your land they can spell as they want.
Nice, organic, well-dimensioned, I like it. My only question would be: why would a village be located some 200 metres from a coast and not directly besides it ? Is there a (natural) feature dictating that ?
@Marcello, as you can see i have redone a bit of coast and in the other side of the Highway i imagined a hill with some religiouse Installation on it. So yea there is a geological feature blocking the area.
A technical detail: in stead of marking schools, churches, shops etc. with separate nodes, you can tag the buildings or areas themselves. It’s faster, and sometimes also looks better. The logo (and name) will appear automatically in the middle of the building or area, and e.g. church buildings will show in darker colour.

So “Evenner Höhe” are correct 2 words in german, as you set it.

Happy mapping!
