@Litvania tried to find a really diary-ish entry again with some admin comment under it, but apparently it was deleted (or i didn’t look enough in the past)
Anyway, there’s THIS really helpful site at the OSM-Wiki on how to tag literally everything…
@Whitedwarf tags are basically values for a point, or node in technical language. For example, if you want a point to be a cafe, you use the tags: amenity=cafe

In iD you’d select waterway for the line, and then dock as the type. It’s not one of the built in defaults.
