It seems that my country (Glaster/UL70c http://opengeofiction.net/#map=9/52.1958/129.0921 ) is essentially isolated from the world, as all of the neighbouring countries are unclaimed. Is there any way of writing about the history of those countries, or are there ‘OGF rules’ to abide by in this case? I am thinking that all the UL70 countries were unified in recent history, and then broke up following some kind of great schism. Something like situation of Yugoslavia in the 1990s possibly. Also maybe some opinions on Ellmouth (The current capital city) http://opengeofiction.net/#map=14/51.8540/129.1994 I didn’t make Reyston, it was already there, so I decided to it an autonomous city, much more aligned to UL70D.

Hm… I don’t really think it’s a good idea for any of us to start writing about the history of unclaimed territories.
Once you get some people next door, then obviously it’s a great idea to work together to determine how your histories intersect.
But for now, it’s possible to write a decent summary of your country’s history without really involving your direct neighbors. See the histories of Karolia and Latina in the wiki for example. If anything, Glaster’s location on a major sea passage might make it easier, since it could have a strong maritime history, interacting with other seafaring powers more than its land neighbors.
If you want a schism story, one option is contacting people who aren’t your direct neighbors. Maybe Glaster was previously an exclave of Neberly, or UL052, and split off. Or maybe it was a colony of Ingerland, and declared independence. Alternatively you could split your country in half, and have a schism between North Glaster and South Glaster. Lots of different possibilities open to you…

Ellmouth looks good so far! Judging by the motorway and railway infrastructure, I assume it’ll grow a bit bigger. And I imagine if it stays the capital then it will eventually have a bunch of government buildings somewhere.
Obviously the “new port” for container ships is located off to the east, by Marleighsham, and then there’s “Ellmouth Harbour” too, but most of Ellmouth’s waterfront feels a little “naked” to me, haha. So I guess that would be my only suggestion at this point: to add more detail along the shoreline — maybe some parklands, interspersed with more docks/quays/shipping, maybe an “old port” near the city center. Not that you need to change anything, but that would be my suggestion.
