I’ve recently been wondering what trade Glaster has with other countries, if any at all. I’ve already established that Glaster has a successful glassware industry, dating back more than 700 years. The two main companies that operate in that sector are Centuria Glassware and Glaster Crystal.
I am aware that Glaster is situated on a major sea passage, which will be beneficial, but it was under Ingerish control until the 1970s. However, I have no idea what materials to sell or trade with other countries. Does anyone have any other ideas?
Here are mine so far, in no order:
- Oil (Probably needs an offshore oil rig for that somewhere)
- Limestone (Probably somewhere in the north or west)
- Chemicals (Sulphuric acid/ammonium/lime based products, such as quicklime or slaked lime)

Gosh, I wish I was near you so I could trade but I don’t think it would make sense for me to trade with a country as far away as glaster, my country is on Antarephia.

Just a short comment, but if you have a successful glassware industry you probably have a good source of silica sand. Geologically it would make sense if that were related to your limestone deposits as well - maybe in the north or west. So it seems you have a sedimentary geology in parts of your country - this could also account for oil reserves and probably coal deposits. These resources could be a reason for Ingerish colonial interest.Industry and industrial capacity could also fit into an industrial development model that saw exploitation of coal reserves, an early metalworking industry, industrialisation and development of shipbuilding, as well as ocean trade. @Thunderbird The OGF world looks equally, if not more developed than the real world, which means globalisation renders distances between continents insignificant. I found this link: Journey of a shipping container. So our two countries can have trade if you like.
@ Ūdilugbulgidħū Yes, I did think about that, and yes, high quality limestone and sand is found in Glaster, which also connects to the chemical industry. There are also as some coal deposits in Glaster, although I’ve yet to decide how metal was obtained. It is possible it was acquired through trade with a neighbouring country, or mined in a territory that has subsequently changed hands.
