Hello,
i’m the owner of Hyildien in nothern Uletha and i don’t really like the name for the sea that is south of my country… Great North Sea. Especially when the ocian north of Hyildien is called the Northern Ice Sea. It would be nicer if Great North Sea had a better name, something that comes from a name of the region, or a nice historical name. The peninsula that Hyildien is located is called The Moniranian Peninsula but i don’t think if we should use that word for the sea. Does someone have an idea?

I don’t think I would necessarily agree: in the real world there are ‘boringly named seas’ as well e.g. the North Sea, which is called Vesterhavet (West Sea) in Danish, if I’m not mistaken, so this is just a practical name based on direction/location. Moreover, a sea can be named differently in each language. You can name the Great North Sea ‘Great South Sea’ :)

I’d be open to a different name. As far as I know OGF doesn’t have “color” seas yet (like the Black Sea, Red Sea, Yellow Sea, White Sea). Maybe the “Gray Sea” would poetically evoke the cold climate of the area? :-)
Similar to what Rasmus mentioned, there’s also the possibility of competing names within the English language. Japan and Korea have a dispute over the English name of the sea between them for example.

The paninsula where Hyldia lies is called Monirania and i wonder if we could call the sea: “The moniranian sea” or “The great moniranian sea”??
