Motorway Junctions

Posted by ev3commander on 4 September 2019 in English (English)

Hello all, I have gotten my own territory. However, there is one big issue: I do not know how to make proper motorway interchanges/junctions, and even normal exits. I know the motorway_link syntax but do not know how to make them look smooth and functional, like this: Gobrassanya PH40/23 junction in Ashoka. I was wondering if there are templates or a guide or something so that I can easily make motorway-motorway and motorway-road T and 4 way junctions. Thanks, ev3commander

Yes, i did read that multiple times. You can see that the very first thing I added to the country was the mountains and then the rivers. I don't know what part is unrealistic exactly except maybe for the large lake. If you are talking about the "unnecessary highways" clearly first my territory isn't completely planned yet, second they all seem plausible to go to urban areas except maybe the mountain one but it connects from the motorway from the country to the north. I'll cut that one down if it's a problem. If it's the weird bay shape I don't think it's too far of a leap from somewhere like the san francisco bay area or szczecin lagoon.

The changes I will make are making the lake smaller and change motorway 2 to secondaries, and perhaps turning some of 6/6a/6b to primary/secondary. Maybe moving fields city south.

Try to detail physical features around your country. Approximately 33 nodes for a mountain range isn't really detailed. Work well on rivers, where you can create cities based on the rivers (look at inspiration such as New Orlean, Kolkata, and/or Hong Kong. The variety is very different but shows how different nations make cities on rivers).

Don't make too many motorways yet; better yet, don't make any airports. You should first start developing a town or city before you get much into these things.

And with your lagoon, I would compare it to the Zalew Wislany, which is very skinny. It is also located not far from sea, with a maximum distance of approximately 5.75 kilometers (located in Kaliningrad, Russia, here.
