Redesigning country
Posted by iBallasticwolf2 on 20 June 2015 in English. Last updated on 21 June 2015.Hello. After I removed part of my country to lessen my workload I decided to redo my country. I first contacted Magor about a desert spanning his and my country. I tried out a new roadway prefix system but I decided it was bad so I will stick with the original system. I will now redo street grids so that they are up to scale and complete. I will have to redo a lot of roadways. Any tips for what I am doing to help me improve? If so please tell me! It’s a good idea to delete and redo something you didn’t do well, I just don’t understand, what exactly do you need tips for?

Well alot of my work is way out of scale and alot of street grids haven’t been done

For street grids the best space is 50-100 m

A strid grid of 50 m? Street = 10 m (2 * 3 for the cars and 2 * 2 m parking), Footway = 2 * 4 m (street without trees), House = room to street 5 m, floor 2 m , room to backyard 5 m = 2 * 12 m - so we get 10, 8, 12 and 12 m minimum = 44 m. So between the houses of street 1 and street 2 are only 6 m ? Much pleasure. In New York they are 60 *240 m, which is very narrow for my feeling.
In part of towns for better class houses are 150 m or more. If there are a row of trees in the street, you need 5 m more. 50 m is a very proletarian grid.

I meant 50 m between narrow oneway streets, for buildings without yards, that would be 50 m - 5 m street - 4m footway = 41 m. If you want houses, then of course more space is needed. But in urban parts, older cities have 50-100 m and newer ones have 100-200 m.

Indeed in older towns there can be very small blocks and not ever rectangled.

Why necessarly make a street grid ? Why not invent the natural features and relief first and then adapt your city to it ?
