According to the overview map, the Aulean Confederation is located close to the 45° south latitude. It’s location near the coast is comparable with South America’s west coast - e.g. Chile.
In Chile (17° S to 53° S) you can barely find any snow in the north and lots of snow in the south. Your country is situated in the south end of Chile and snow could be more common. I guess that you will have a mountain range in your country, so snow could lay there for most of the year while in coast areas snow is less frequently falling; only during southern winter months.
It’s just my guess because other components like a the local weather system and currents of the ocean are things I don’t know very well.
