Hi everyone, I was thinking about some important historical dates for my country Pasalia and one of them is the launch of the first satellite. Now I was asking myself how this whole matter of Rocket Launches is supposed to be handled. Would be great to hear from others if they intend on having something like that or if there are any international agreements on this matter?

Indeed an important item. Latina will have a space center at Yotunna island in the northeast of the country. Latina will realiseze projects with other countries as GPS-satellites or send a persom to the “moon”.
If you plan a space-station in the orbit, Latina and Zylanda will pay 20 % and send some people to this station.

Good to know. And I’d doubt I’ll have a space station in orbit as Pasalia only has short of 7 million people and I feel this is a ‘‘little’’ bit to small to justify a nasa-scale program. As of know I think I’ll settle with some satellites. But if you plan (or anyone else reading this) on sending a person to moon or a space station (or with others of course that is) I’ll be happy to contribute (In some way like paying my shares or giving resources/parts to be assembled or something) Hope to hear more of you guys -kingfries

Something to remember about where to put a launch site:
Proximity to the equator for launching of spacecraft is ideal because of the craft’s ability to utilize the faster rotational speed of the earth to save fuel. While possible to launch from anywhere on the globe it becomes less and less feasible as you move north or south from the equator.
Consider that the European Space Agency launches from French Guiana. Russia launches from Kazakhstan ( which is hardly equatorial but moving south…)
The point is that there is a possibility for some interesting alliances to form because of this…

Im not sure where to put Pretany’s launch point. I don’t own an island, so I’m guessing it will need to be somewhere near Westward Gate, in the mountains.

I placed it west of a large lake to prevent debris from failed launches. It also has a very equatorial position, so it seems like it would be a good place for other countries to launch from too. (In reference to refried sushi’s alliance proposal) Freedemia would be glad to pay a percentage of the mission costs as well as provide a launch site.

I think I need to create a space center somewhere in Belphenia. I thought Zerephine City would do the trick, but I would make a space center in the prefectures of Edaleria or southwest Hailagord instead.

The ‘autonomous territory’ of OIOI, Ūrątybara, located here: http://opengeofiction.net/#map=11/2.0272/92.1938 is an OGF equivalent of rw French Guiana developed in the 1960’s - 70’s by (as yet undetermined) left wing governments and Telkhug Ēkdŭn. Shipping lines around the islands were re-routed to avoid the issue of falling launch debris. Basically, it has been open to be used by any OGF country with a strongly left-wing - should we say Doonist - government up until around 2000. Since then it has also been open to private space ventures.
The facilities are large enough to allow launch of rockets up to ‘Apollo’ size (i.e. manned luna missions). It could also contribute to an ‘international space station’ - given the right backers and incentives.
