Hello everyone,
I’ve just created a small airport (see it here) and I want to name the runways for the wiki page. I know how to name them, becuase of this wikipedia page, but I don’t know how to see in what angle the runway is heading. Can someone help me? I’m using JOSM.
Greetings, Niels

I personally endorse the measurements plugin; it can tell you all different kinds of information about one or several objects, such as length, area and also angle.

You don’t even need the measurements plugin - the bottom status bar in JOSM shows both the relative and absolute angles of the current way being drawn. Then to convert that angle to the runway naming convention, you drop the the last digit and include its 180° opposite. Thus, in the screenshot below, the runway’s absolute angle is shown to be 40°, so the runway name becomes the airport code, OMAR, and then includes 04 (40°) and 22 (220° - i.e. opposite direction): OMAR 04-22.

For people who don’t have JOSM or don’t like angles, there’s a really simple graphic Paxtar made for OGF:Making realistic airports which can be used to just eyeball it. Just decide which arrows most closely parallel your runways… in this case I think they’re 04/22 and 15/33.
