COASTLINE IDEA: GULF ON THE SOUTHEASTERN VINN SEA.

Posted by adminero_us on 13 November 2016 in English (English)

I've been since a month ago with this idea around my head. What about creating a gulf on the southeastern part of the Vinn sea? The gulf would give Esthensia and Vinnmark bigger coastlines, as well as creating a Denmark shaped peninsula where Welstand-Westrijk and Shilesia are, so they would gain a coastline (pretty interesting if they want to fully integrate in the Vinn Sea community) , they would significantly increase their territory and they would lose these artificial-looking frontiers which look really odd in a region that seems to be inspired by Old Europe. Vinnmark's new coastline would look a bit like the east coast of Sweden, with lagoons and pretty detailed islands, and I would be able to connect Berles to the sea (make it look like Stockholm and Helsinki mixed together).

We would connect that lake to the sea

The image features a basic scheme of how would it look, of course we would improve it a lot.

So what do you think?

I think it would look amazing, but my country is on the other side of the world, so it's not likely to impact.

Aesthetically, it seems a good idea

I like the idea! And especially the eastern arm leading into (former) Estiansian territory looks great. But: The southern arm leading into Vinnmark is much too large, imo. Please have in mind that in the north of Ventria and in the south of Vinnmark (the latter layouted by me with your permission, thanks again!) has mountains with elevations up to 1000m or a bit more. Theres more land needed between these mountains and the gulf. Also, I think you should reduce the size of your large lake a little. But that's only a proposal.

This is my proposal: Vinn Sea southeastern gulf proposal by joschi81 (modified southern arm of the gulf, red: modified borders, red arrows: significant additional territory for respective country)

I especially like the idea of giving Welstand-Westrijk a coastline and thus access to the Vinn Sea. But of course, al the part between the current territory of WW and the new gulf should then be part of the country. @Friedrich Kirchen: Do you agree? (see my proposal)

@Pawl: Would you agree to expand Donllanion and Rhodrionog regions south to the gulf?

@adminero_us: What do you think about my modified proposal?

Best regards

joschi81

@joschi81, it's okay but the reason I planned that for was to have a southern arm, and is something wrong with it expanding into the southern part of Vinnmark (keeping it around 100km away from Ventria) creating a elevated coastline with fjords and mountains just like in Norway? I think the southern arm of the gulf is okay and it would also give WW a stylish look, as a long peninsula.

@adminero_us: Ok, agreed. But please make it a lot narrower than in your first proposal, maybe really like a fjord in Norway, with sections that are online 1-2km wide (allowing for bridges). It looks really too large - so not the length, but the size in general is a problem for me. Also, it would be more logic for Berles, giving it more land to the east - if you take the eastern coast of the southern gulf as an orientation to define a narrower version. Additionaly, you could add some very narrow "side fjords". :)

@joschi81: I like your map a lot, I think smaller is better. Thilo may want to weigh in too.

A few months ago you mentioned that it might be okay to place a homeland for the Franquese language in the western part of Ísztianország ("Yes, possible. However, I'm looking forward to design a Hungarian speaking seaport city. So I wouldn't like to give up the access to the Vinn Sea. Maybe we could extend the arm of the Vinn Sea a bit more, so that I have seaport possibilities even when giving up a part of the country?") So if possible, it would be great to see that included with this plan...

This looks interesting!

@Joschi81, yes I would be happy to have the extra territory. Actually, I had been thinking of carving out another Scandinavian-style country from Tircambry. This would work nicely, and give the country a coastline on the new gulf.

Wait! What about Shilesia then? As far as i understand joshi81's plan involves deletion of what is known right now as Hetzer/Jezero lake. We'd like to have access to the gulf as well, or at least a wide river connection (something like Elbe in Hamburg).

I really like the idea of having access to the vinn sea, and it looks great in both proposals, it feels is the perfect excuse to start writing about history connections and common events. It'd be a little chaos for me to loose the Hetzer Lake reference. Kirchenburg is placed in the lake's coast, and its kinda strange to place the capital in nowhere when i have a fucking peninsula hahahha. so i agree with @trabentemnaksiezyc, make the lake be part of the gulf so we can both have access to Vinn sea. Other solution is making Shilesia grow to the west in order to have access to the vinnmark's gulf. I'd like to know how much is this possible cause I'm designing the territory divisions for Welsrijk, and thinking about change it to a Republic. Obviously this gulf will change and define my country sooooo much.
