Hello there. I’ve been not editing so much since I got so much problems with JOSM, principally with the conection, read time out, problems with the plugin, etc… This have made my editing more slow than I would like and I can. I’m waiting for the release of Linux Mint 18 KDE, hoping that a fresh and clean install of the OS could repair the problem with JOSM. I wanted to work with a topo map, with Aŭstrasuno Tero first, then the whole Great Southern Island (after agreeing and discussing with thermo_nuclear about Semer Republic, of course). But, then I got this problem with JOSM and I cannot keep editing the coastline, islands and another bigger physical features.
By the way, I may be working with the wiki info, wich doesn’t involve some much edition and is something pending.

Actually, if you’re having problems with JOSM connection and time outs, I think this is more likely connected to your ISP rather than your OS or JOSM. One thing that might help with time outs, is changing two settings under your preferences (these are “timeout defaults”):

The other thing to keep in mind, is if the timeout problems are due to your ISP, in fact contours are a great project, since you don’t really need to be connected much to do this work. You have to get one good copy of you coastline, but once you have that, you can (in fact, MUST) do your contour editing offline - since you should not upload the contours to OGF.
When you finish your contours, you can zip and save it and email it to Thilo for conversion to actual contours for your area. There’s discussion of this process here:

Well, I have updated my system. JOSM works well again, all the tools with no errors. A fresh install is always refreshing.
But my ISP is horrible and saddly I don’t have another better option. Fortunately I changed my DNS configuration and now it is working better.
Thanks Luciano for the observations in contours, but how do you draw them with JOSM, as just single lines? Also, I see you have interactive maps, multimaps, of many territories. Can I ask you for one of Aŭstrasuno Tero Provinces, please?

The best way to understand how I did contours is to look at a sample file.
You can download (select, copy, paste into text file, save with .osm extension) the small sample contours file that is included with the contours discussion in my sandbox.
Then you can open the OSM file in JOSM, and see what I did.

Now I have a new problem. I can’t update my recent changes on the map, JOSM keeps updating and updating and nothing appears in the map. According to the map history, my last change have been 7 hours ago, while I’ve been trying to update since around two hours ago a new set of changes.
What should I do? (my ISP is crap, I know)
