i just started mapping on this site a week ago.

I just want some advice to how to make my city better. I want to start a new country, but I want to finish to what I have started. I tried going to that old European city and then with suburbs spreading out at the outskirts. I still want to ask you dear mappers to what I should do to my city more to make it look better. Thanks. JOMO.

Some right angles might be a god idea for this city; the street plan looks quite medieval and unstructured. City areas built from 19th century onward are usually more or less based on parallell lines and right angles.

If I were you, I would also make a river flow through the centre of the city and map nearby streets to follow its curves. Most cities are founded near some kind of waterways, they were essential in old days when roads were bad or non-existent.

Happy mapping!

I would first imagine the terrain, create a very detailed coastal area and then imagine how the city would be build from there. In your city, I would use more secondary and tertiary roads and less primary roads.

Also, I've seen you're moving to AR338, close to Neo Delta! Looks like we're going to be neighbors, welcome! :) Don't forget to take the cold climate into consideration.

And also take a look at the valuable tips here:

Welcome to OGF! Here are two things that I noticed:

  1. I think the subway should be in a tunnel. Now it is over the ground which might cause some problems. (tag tunnel=yes)

  2. There seems to be quite many intersections with more than four directions. They do exist in real world but I think there are too many intersections like that.

Not bad! Also make intersections for expressways too!
