As much as I clearly understand the freedom of creativity in OGF, I know that most of us (I think?) are probably trying to get a sense of realism in their mapping. In the same way, I’m sure a lot of us probably imagine what kind of geography and climate each of our countries have before wondering what the owners of your neighbouring countries were imagining, and that is what we map to. Now that we have a really descriptive wiki, we are able to describe this a lot better, but not necessarily to the extant of what other OGF users were also planning.
What I’m suggesting is perhaps we could come up with a consensus as to what the climate of each of our countries is supposed to be like. I know that some users have created their own climate maps, which were really well done, but don’t necessarily match the intentions of everyone else. I was thinking maybe we could make a list on the wiki that includes every country and territory sorted into different regions, and some spaces that include geography and climate information that each country owner can put in themselves. We could sort this out into different categories such as average precipitation, snowfall, vegetation, average summer and winter temperatures, etc.
Does anyone think this is a good idea?

On the other hand = everybody can see the latitude of his land and can think about, how the clima on earth is at this latitude. So if you want a glacier in an aequatorial country - it must be high as the Kilimandjaro. If you will rain, you must have some mountains and so on and so on.

What I was referring to was getting an idea of what your surrounding countries’ climate is supposed to be like. Of course, it doesn’t make sense to have glaciers in a flat country near the equator, but say, for example, that you begin mapping a maritime country that is on the Tropic of Capricorn and you were intending its climate to be similar to that of British Columbia. Or you have a country at 45 degrees North that you were intending to be tropical.
The country I am working on now (Inretsk) is at 30 degrees South, and I was intending on its climate to be similar to that of Tasmania or South Island, New Zealand, not subtropical Australia. I thought it would be a good idea to get a big list of geographical and climatological features in each country so we can map wind and rain patterns, or try to match your country’s climate to a neighbouring one.
I will create the page sometime later this week, if I have some time freed up. I posted it here to see if anyone had any good ideas before I created it :)

I would welcome such an effort. A user quite a while back did some detailed world climate work, but it made me depressed because I realized I’d been pretty unrealistic with respect to Ardisphere. I decided we will have to assume some weird monsoonal pattern to explain the wetness in the eastern Ardisphere, some kind of cyclonic spin off the White Sea interacting with the mountains in the center of the country. I was too stubborn to give up on that and make the country as dry as the its latitude and position dictate, although I’ve dried it out some. But it would be good to have a place to post info about Ardisphere’s climate so neighbors could take it into account - i.e. they get stuck with the same weird weather pattern that moisturizes Ardisphere.

Good that other countries around me aren’t developed at all or just a little. I can set the climate around myself ;) There is a desert in Canadeshia + Chastechek a bit. I made it earlier, when AR104 wasn’t split. I also think of creating mountains when I learn how to do this in realistic way. Very nice idea, hope it will work!

I would like to support this idea on the works on world climate too. There are deserts in eastern Belphenia I made when I first came to OGF.

I’m developping Egani knowing what climate and relief does southern Sathria’s regions have. The northern half of my country is very mountainous and can be compared to countries of Balkans, in the east and extreme south it’s a bit drier.

Orinoco climate varies greatly for a country it’s size. The northeat mainland and islands would be rather mild with cold and damp winters, similar to New York or Atlantic Canada. Orinoco’s southeast would be very warm in the summer similar to South Carolina. Valgary and the West of Orinoco would be much drier, similar to the the middle of the US and some higher elevations similar to Wyoming. That’s the climate I’d like to think it has anyway. Belphenia and Orinoco share similar topography with major earthquakes and volcanic activity. Orinoco also has a record of major hurricanes coming ashore, now with the new continents and smaller ocean they may go down in severity. I assume most OGF nations have more eclectic climates than countries in the real world.
