Pretty much that. I’m leaving most geographic features such as mountain ranges and lakes behind, and they aren’t hard to delete if the next owner wishes. Most urban stuff has been either moved to AR053 or deleted, but I’ve left some remnants of a city I was trying to start in case the new owner wants something to start off of.

Just thought I’d put that out there…
Canclaret and I were hoping to do a bid for the 2016 Winter Geolympiad that is to be co-hosted between Palmerston City, Ismikk and Sono, Inretsk (the latter of which is currently under development, although we’ll probably get it done on time). Is it alright if we could start our bid early (if there is going to be one soon)? We’re not going to have as much time to get things done from September 1st onward, but we still really want to do this.
So I figured it out a while ago, but I feel bad now that I forgot to tell anyone about it, so I’ll just say it the Canadian way:
Sorry, eh.
Anyway, in order to put the Babel language boxes on your user pages on the wiki, you have to do it a bit differently. Since (it appears that) a lot of Wikipedia’s features aren’t built into the OGF wiki, most language templates are missing, so I just entered them manually:
| { | class=”userboxes” style=”float: right; margin-left: 1em; margin-bottom: 0.5em; width: 248px; border: #99B3FF solid 1px; clear: right; color: #000000; “ |
|-
| ! style=”background-color: inherit; text-align: center” colspan=”10” | [[Wikipedia:Babel]] |
|-
| {{userbox-level |
| level = |
| id = [[en]] |
| info = This user is a native speaker of English. |
}}{{userbox-level
| level = 4 |
| id = [[fr]] |
| info = Cet utilisateur parle français à un niveau comparable à la langue maternelle. |
}}{{userbox-level
| level = 1 |
| id = [[iu]] |
| info = ᐃᓄᒃᑎᑐᑦ This user is able to contribute with a basic level of Inuktitut. |
}}
| } |
Since there don’t appear to be any Babel language templates put into the OGF wiki yet (with a few exceptions), you can find them here and enter them manually: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Babel/List
Hopes this helps people out!
New Climate and Flora/Fauna Profile List - Now Ready for Editing
Posted by Asparagus on 7 April 2015 in English. From what I mentioned last week, here’s the pages where people can enter information about their country’s climate and plants/animals for easier reference.

I will have some more of these lists/charts done when I have some more free time.
Edit away!
As much as I clearly understand the freedom of creativity in OGF, I know that most of us (I think?) are probably trying to get a sense of realism in their mapping. In the same way, I’m sure a lot of us probably imagine what kind of geography and climate each of our countries have before wondering what the owners of your neighbouring countries were imagining, and that is what we map to. Now that we have a really descriptive wiki, we are able to describe this a lot better, but not necessarily to the extant of what other OGF users were also planning.
What I’m suggesting is perhaps we could come up with a consensus as to what the climate of each of our countries is supposed to be like. I know that some users have created their own climate maps, which were really well done, but don’t necessarily match the intentions of everyone else. I was thinking maybe we could make a list on the wiki that includes every country and territory sorted into different regions, and some spaces that include geography and climate information that each country owner can put in themselves. We could sort this out into different categories such as average precipitation, snowfall, vegetation, average summer and winter temperatures, etc.
Does anyone think this is a good idea?
Can someone explain to me what the purpose of map notes are? I just placed one and I can’t get rid of it. Does anyone know how to do this?
I noticed that the countries that appear to be named “Asturialand” (AR043) and “Seeosa” (AR022) in southern Archanta appears to be up for grabs according to the overview map. I’m fairly surprised by this, as there was some pretty good map-making skill that was put into both countries (especially “Asturialand”). It would be a shame to see it all deleted by a private user (if that ever happens, or is even humanly possible!). May I suggest making the territories free (“blue”)? I see there are already a few of them in Archanta already, but what a waste!
I notice that in some places like Roantra and Khaiwoon, if you turn on TopoMap, the topography is shown in the typical “3D-ish” way a genuine topography map would be. How exactly do you do this? I’m finding it a little awkward to make larger mountain ranges out of “forest” (even thought it’s probably a lot easier to do it this way anyways…).
I’ve noticed the decent amount of OGF users whose first language is not English and have mentioned it. As English is my first language, I will gladly help anyone who needs correcting on their wiki pages, as Google Translate really doesn’t cut it in terms of quality. As the only other language I speak is French, I won’t be able to directly translate much for you, but if you are using Google Translate, or if you aren’t too confident with your English skills and want some mistakes corrected, feel free to send me a message!
Is “Ingerish” supposed to be the same thing as English in the OpenGeoFiction World? I noticed on the wiki that a lot of countries use it as a regional language, and that on some language pages, when describing words in their own language they “translate” it into “Ingerish” instead of English, even though it really translates into English. I also noticed the actual country of Ingerland on the map, even though it hasn’t been mentioned on the wiki yet. Is “Ingerish” supposed to be the national language of this country, or is it supposed to be a humourous way of allowing English to be used as a language? (As it would be silly to add England as a country in OpenGeoFiction.) Or does this all just have to do with one’s own creativity?
Any way to finish making long stretches of things faster?
Posted by Asparagus on 12 September 2014 in English. Is there any way to make long stuff like highways, coastlines and lakes faster? All I’ve been doing is continuously dragging a piece of coastline for a very long time to make an inlet, and it still hasn’t gone very far (well, in terms of how big of an inlet I’m making). I’m kind of frustrated with how far you [can’t] zoom out. Is there another way to do this, or is this the only way?
