New Climate and Flora/Fauna Profile List - Now Ready for Editing

From what I mentioned last week, here’s the pages where people can enter information about their country’s climate and plants/animals for easier reference.

I’m wondering if it might be easier to pursue this in a more systematic way, which could help us get more consistent results too. For example:

  1. We could start with a worldwide survey to locate the major mountain ranges.
  2. Knowing the topography can help us build a plausible worldwide climate map (accommodating people’s climate preferences, as long as they are somewhat realistic).
  3. With climate plus topography, it’s easy to make a biome map.
  4. The biome map can help people choose realistic flora and fauna.

I think a lot of people would appreciate having this sort of framework to build upon, rather than trying to figure it all out on their own. Not only that, but sharing the same framework would also help ensure that our end results form a coherent overall picture, rather than a hodgepodge that may or may not make sense.

Anyway, just my 0.05 K£.

Sure, of course I agree with isleño’s idea, but the point of this chart is just to get a clearer idea of what kind of characteristics one WANTS in their country regardless of what other countries surrounding them are like. That’s why it’s in my sandbox instead of being an actual wiki page. After we get a bit more consensus from this, then we can start making climate maps that suit peoples’ liking. These charts I’m making are not meant to be ‘official’ or serious at this point, but just so we can plan things to what the whole community wants in the future.

We can wait some time, let users fill the Climate and Flora & Fauna. Then we can think about the world map with everything marked. Like mountains, deserts, even glaciers :) After the map is done, new users will see it and choose the best country, with a climate that they like.

This will also help with the Gobras City Zoo where there are plenty of open spots for new animals.
