Any way to finish making long stretches of things faster?
Posted by Asparagus on 12 September 2014 in English. Is there any way to make long stuff like highways, coastlines and lakes faster? All I’ve been doing is continuously dragging a piece of coastline for a very long time to make an inlet, and it still hasn’t gone very far (well, in terms of how big of an inlet I’m making). I’m kind of frustrated with how far you [can’t] zoom out. Is there another way to do this, or is this the only way?

I’m guessing you’re using the iD editor on the website? This is the sort of thing which forces you to graduate to one of the full feature editors, such as JOSM (or Potlatch?)

That probably explains things… Is JOSM a lot easier to use?

JOSM has a load more features, but it’s got a learning curve. Make sure to follow the config steps in the FAQ link at the top. The JOSM website has reasonable docs, plus there are good tutorials to be found around the net.

Jeez, this works a whole lot faster than iD!
