Here’s the thing: If I could, I’d go back in time, slap myself in the face, and say, “Don’t name your country Peaceland.” The name feels unrealistic, and it was more based on a history I scrapped a while ago. I’ve considered changing the name, but my worry is that my country will then feel like a completely different country from the one I’ve been working on for about a year. I also feel like I could make the name work somehow, but that may just be unnecessary work, especially since a name is based on history; not the other way around. Should I change the name?

Well, you can just modify the name without changing its concept and make it still match well with your history. It exist a couple of words refering to the notion of Peace, like concord, friendship, entente, harmony, amity,… Also you can mix it with another name or use the latin version like in PAXtar a big country in south Antharephia. Anyway, I’m sure you’ll find a good one.

Alright, clearly you guys want me to change the name. I’ll change the name to something new, but I’ll keep “Peaceland” until I can find something better. Thanks for the advice!

Maybe you can translate peace to a native language, or like others said, to Latin. Give some thought to natives on the country.

Why you will change the name? “Peace” is a good idea and programm. And why in latin (pax), because the english word is only a deriverate of the latin word. In other germanic languages this word has something with “fri..” or “fre..”

In my opinion, having a history for the name is more important for realism than an obviously realistic sound to it.
Also, Peaceland is not as peculiar than it may appear. There are many RW place names with a word for peace, including a multitude of places called Paz or Salaam. American names tend to use the adjective Pacific in stead, e.g. Pacific City, Oregon, while there are also names like Peacehaven in Vereeniging, South Africa.
Of course, it is not realistic that places called Peace-something remain especially peaceful, consider e.g. what happened in Tiananmen Square, “the square of heavenly peace” in 1989.

To honour your nation, in planning names for the Bai Empire, one of the bordering districts will be named Heping, or peace in Chinese.
