Have mapped a lot in recent days, and I would take a break for other issue. But before that, I would like to present Tan Kong Island, my recent work.
It is just a grand planning, no details. I will finish the tram and metro system when I’m back. I know someone would say the island is a plagiarism of real world Hong Kong Island but I would not agree. It is just a homage. To be honest, yes, Tan Kong has carried many of my childhood memories, some places on the island looks similar to somewhere on Hong Kong Island before 1997 but has became history for some reasons, reconstruction, reclamation etc. I think this is my way to say goodbye to the city I born, I grew up and beloved. There are also some features only exists in my imagination such as a oil refinery plant which the idea comes from New Jersey. It provides job for Tan Kong’s working class and balance the economic structure.
However Tan Kong is still the home of Tan Kong Stock Exchange, and multiple commodity futures. Most financial activities gather at Intown, Ha Wan Tsai, Naval, and Yau Wan. If there is any multinational company wants to set up headquarter, regional headquarter, just let me know by message, I will map them.
I will stop here. Happy mapping!
H.M. Shia Space Center is the only space facility of Cinasia for now. It is managed by Cinasian Space Agency. the Space Center can operate heavy rocket (size of Ariane 5 in the real world) at the First Launch Complex for manned spacecraft, business, science and military satellites. Besides, two space navigation companies, SpaceY(暢宇) and and Sand Martin(沙燕), built various type of launch complex, for both recyclable rocket and traditional rocket. In the Future, Cinasia would like to cooperate with other nations for bigger space program, the launch site will be some where at Yuethon(越漢). Feel free to comment and leave me message if your country wanna launch an Space Odyssey too.
Welcome to the movie world of Cinasia, I have roughly finished this weekend, a town for the Cinasia’s movie industry, one studio complex and and one movie related theme park which is like the Universal Studio. Is there anything I should add?
Today is my last day of quarantine, everything goes fine, I can back to work tomorrow.
I map a lot during the 14 days and now may I present my tropical atoll Ching Sha.
It is a natural reserve, no permanent residents, but there are Marines, scientist and fishermen come for shelter. Permit is required for ecotourism. The idea comes from Pratas Islands .
The first international airport I finished mapping, Yu Hing Shiu Yi International Airport. Comments are welcome.
I will take a little brake after this update, so this time we step out the palace and take a short trip at the old city.
Urban design of ancient China varies in different kind, the best example was Si’an City (西安) in Tang Dynasty (唐代). The whole city was divided into small square blocks just like NYC or Chicago nowadays. Some are built along a main river and planned according to the natural landscape. These capital cities will be well defensed as they guarded by water and mountain, streets are in irregular pattern but user oriented so business was well developed. Loyang(洛陽), Nanking(南京) and Hangchow(杭州) are the examples. I had chosen the Hangchow style for my fictional capital.
I shall say the old town is yet finished but you could see what it will be like. Streets are narrow and cut the neighborhood in small pieces, Those houses maybe built for hundred years so they were protected. However people still living there, perhaps there is gentrification. Ancient Six Ministries office (六部衙門) located on the axis of the capital, now they were tourist attractions.
And one more fun thing, I put a high value residence near the right down corner of the palace, as the link shows
This is a product of urban renewal but some government officials were bribed so you see a strange planning here, It is not a single case for North East Asian cities of real world.
Hello everyone, Happy 2019!
Haven’t written a new diary for a while, so this time I’m gonna show something I made quite a long time ago, the Royal City of Cinasia.
I have been read some books about the ancient Chinese city planning, the wisdom of ancient people is so amazing.
The Royal City is inspired by the Forbidden City in Peking, and yes, the scale of both are similar, and they look similar too, but the details are different. I tried to obey the ancient Chinese law, all main buildings locate on an axis(中軸線), the front part of palace is the center of political activities and the back part is the living areas. Hope you guys like it.
Recently I’ve been working on the city named “Cheung Kwen O” City. As you may see in the following link, the city pretty looks like Kowloon, Hong Kong, in late 80’s. The city is not yet finished but I have to take an exam in near future so I won’t be active for a month or two. Hope will see you guys soon~ Feel free to drop some comments :)
Hello happy mappers:
May I introduce myself here, My name is Hilson, from Hong Kong, and I joined this community just more than a year!
from a mapper 101 to my first try on josm, I have learnt a lot of mapping skills and try my best to show my home town in an alternative way.
Well my country, Cinasia, is much larger than a city-state, so I checked other East Asian countries and map their features into my map.
So maybe a renown image over Hong Kong is a crowed megacity, but we do have tiny Islands with villages on them. May I present here, Hey Chau, a tiny island located at north east corner of my country, which is an alternate version of Cheung Chau. It will be finished soon, I hope, and welcome to leave some comments.
Real world Cheung Chau:
Hey Chau, Cinasia: see map location
