Hello. I have been on OGF for only a few weeks, and I am having trouble with creating detailed coastlines. I find it very annoying that you have to zoom so close in to edit. Any tips?

Do you mean that you’re restricted in the zoom levels by using iD? If you’re creating a detailed coastline then you shouldn’t need to be editing further out than zoom level 13, especially with a coast as relatively short as yours.

If you’re serious about creating a great, detailed coastlines, here’s my number one tip: Use JOSM, and get the FastDraw plugin. Suddenly, with such excellent tools, drawing wiggly and detailed coastlines can become quite fun.
If JOSM is too scary and you would prefer to stick with iD or Potlatch, then you have to accept working at high zooms and a lot of clicking. Parts of the Ardisphere coast (the islands in the south) were created in this way, before I was fully comfortable with JOSM.

I second the recommendation to get JOSM. Used properly, the possibility of data errors when editing with JOSM is much lower.

When I try to download JOSM, it says that it’s dangerous, should I download it anyway?

I have never heard of JOSM being called dangerous. You say “it says…” - what, exactly, is “it”? Your operating system? Your browser? Your anti-virus?
Thousands of people use JOSM. It is not fly-by-night software, but a major, well-supported application. If your system says it’s dangerous, that is a problem with your system, not with JOSM. JOSM does have stability issues. In fact, it has sometimes crashed my computer. But it is not malicious software - just very complicated software on the open-source model, with occasional problems.

Maybe because my computer is Windows 10 and it automatically comes with antivirus.
